I believe this song could be about wrestling with life and death. Jesus gave his life for our sins and if you think about the worst sin you could have, and to just lay that down to the cross and let it die, this song becomes clear to me. "I don\'t like the steps I took to get to look into your deepest feelings" he\'s trying to understand what Jesus felt on that cross. "I don\'t like the place I\'m in, headspace with the hardwood/ceiling" that is literally where you\'re standing right now, in your living room or bedroom, Uncomfortable with your sin. "I don\'t mind, I\'m not surprised to find that you do" you try and live with it but God knows we can\'t, and shouldn\'t have to. "I feel fine.. the same does not apply to you" Jesus doesn\'t feel fine, he has the weight of sin on the cross "I guess that I\'ll curl up and die too" he\'s laying his sin down at the cross and letting it die with Jesus Christ. It\'s a beautiful song and just shows how much Matt understands the love Jesus has for him and everyone. |
