Magazine – Talk To The Body Lyrics 9 months ago
This has a riff that echos "Speed of Life" by David Bowie. Still original, but hinted. It also sounds like it was produced by Brian Eno.

Andy Williams – Butterfly Lyrics 10 months ago
This song came up in shuffle today and I did a double take when I heard the lyrics:

I love you so much I know what I'll do
I'm clippin' your wings, your flyin' is through
'Cause I'm crazy about you, you butterfly (ooh, ah)

The psychopath message is belied by the gentle trot of the music and melody. I know it was 1957 and times were very different, but didn't anyone say, "Andy, this song cute and all, but it is sung from the point of view of a raging lunatic?"

@[callaSAURUS:46451] I like the linear analysis of the album here.

The Police – Born In The 50's Lyrics 1 year ago
These geezers were born in '52, '51, and 1942. Were they trying to be as young as punks in England at the time? Dave Vanian and Johnny Rotten were born in 1956, putting two punks square in the '50s. Police: suspect.

@[Sicklenhammer:35195] This lyric makes me wonder how many is “too many” right wing meetings.

The Jam – Down In The Tube Station At Midnight Lyrics 3 years ago
Interesting contrast of two songs on All Mod Cons. In Mr. Clean, the protagonist is judging and having fantasies about fucking up a random stranger. While in Down in the Tube Station at Midnight, the protagonist is randomly victimized by brutal right-wing drunks
