Soundgarden – Black Hole Sun Lyrics 7 years ago
I think artists prefer to keep a songs true meaning up to the Interpreter. Art means different things to different people, no matter what he claims publicly.

There is a legend of the black sun said to be underneath the earth. It resides in the underworld where there is no war or suffering. The swastika is derived from the symbol although it's origins precede the nazi's by thousands of years, as in they stole it. (That is, if I have that right).

Reading about it made me think of the song of course, though the internet was in it's infancy when the song was created and it seems a bit of a stretch to think that this is what he was singing about. The legend of the black sun is considered more of a myth shrouded in occult meaning. So I'm not sure Chris himself fully grasps the esoteric and mundane content of the song if he's serious about it not having any clear meaning, because the song as a whole is clarified further when the black sun is learned. Coincidentally or not, he was inspired by the legend, whether consciously or subconsciously.
