My father was also Navy, and served on a submarine during the Gulf Wars, and saw deployment during and after the initial occupation of Afghanistan. He missed my sister's birth, overseas, on station. When he came back, he started listening to 3 Doors Down, because they show respect to the National Guard in their songs.
