Amy Winehouse – Cherry Lyrics 8 years ago
It's a song she wrote for her best friend

'Her name is Cherry we just met but already she knows me better than you! She understands me after 18 years & you still don't see me like you ought to do' - after 18 years she finally is being understood by Cherry (the guitar) and her best friend still doesn't get her

'Maybe we could talk about things if you was made of wood and strings. While I love her every sound I don't know how to turn you down' - she loves every sound the guitar makes but she she can't seem to get her best friend to shut up

'You're so thick and my patience thin so I got me a new best friend with a pickup that puts you to shame and Cherry is her name' - she's tired of her best friend not understanding and isn't there for her as opposed to Cherry who has become her NEW best friend and is never absent

'And when I'm lonely Cherry's there and she plays along while I sing out my blues. I could be crying and you don't care you won't call me back you're stubborn as a mule' - On a again she's reiterating that Cherry is always there for her as opposed to her old best friend who wasn't and will not return her calls

'Maybe we could talk about things if you was made of wood and strings. You might think I've gone too far. I'm talking 'bout my new guitar!' - just in case her old best friend doesn't get it, her replacement is a guitar not another person

Amy did say 'Cherry' was written for her best friend that she hadn't seen in awhile
