I think it\'s about someone who only cares about possessions, and fine ones at that with the reference to designer vaccinations. This person gets a hit from buying expensive things. They probably also think they are better than others because of what they have. \n\nHis point is relying on that for happiness isn\'t great and can come crashing down.\n\nAnother possible angle is Noel\'s success after Oasis and how Noel has maybe bad mouthed Liam. Throwing stones from glass houses maybe? The resurrection on, being Liam\'s solo stuff doing well? |

@[darksadsky:22147] I get this sentiment to some extent. I know when I was younger I genuinely thought of ways to end my life but it was my family that stopped me. I had a young nephew and a niece and it was those growing up that kept me going. But then I think what about the people who have nobody? What about the homeless man on the street? Everybody walks on by, he has nothing, what's stopping him when he feels like that? |

Late to the party on the comments but having read your post it really made me see this song differently and I think you have it spot on. I've never got on perfectly with my dad, we have our ups and downs. This song makes me wonder if this is how my dad feels about us. I have so many regrets. It always seems when he's reached out I've pushed him away and when I've tried to make time and do things he doesn't want to. Makes me realise how many memories I had of when we were young doing things that didn't seem so special at the time. The activities weren't the special part, it's the fact it was me and my dad there together that made it special. And I feel I've lost that now. I feel as this song says, I've lost a friend. |

@[Mikey_hawk:22131] I thought it was about suicide. But after analyzing the lyrics I think it's actually about parent/child bond. I think the lines "Let him know that you know best
Cause after all, you do know best" make more sense in this context. How many times have your parents told you something when you were a young teenager and you thought you knew better. Later in life you realise how young you were and how wise your parent was. |

I've never really paid attention to this song until recently.
My life wasn't going so swell. I was down in the dumps. I heard this song, and the message I got was that "you could be so many people" as in you can achieve anything, you can be anyone you want to be. But to do that you need to do something and it's never too late. It certainly inspired me, ever since that day I have focused to do at least 1 thing every I can look back on and say I was proud of myself for doing that today. Sometimes it's only a small victory, but it all helps. |

@[LondonSkyline:18165] I have to disagree, while I enjoy the chorus of Annie Lennox's version, the Ash version is so much better. Annie's vocals are technically better, but that's because she is a singer by trade. But everything is like a karaoke version, the guitar work is average and too much commercial pop glossing. Where is the guitar solo??. I also think the vocals of the Ash's version have got more feeling imho. |

@[Sparrowned:17515] While you are right that being poor doesn't mean you are stupid, unfortunately that's how the upper class are brought up to believe. They believe that by going to a top school and being educated they are better than others, That is the perspective this song is written from. One of those people see's things in the working class that they don't have, things money can't buy. And that's the point of the song, there are some things money can't buy, and you can't fake it either. Only when you are living it for real can you have it. |

I used to listen to this album non stop when I was younger. Now I am older and decided to listen to the whole thing and this song made me cry as I finally realised what it's about. I finally realised that it almost documents my latter teenage years.
The part with
"Who you were
Was so beautiful
Remember who, who you where"
really strikes a chord for me. So many times in our lives we may feel down buy when we look back afterwards we can often realise there was so much good about ourselves in that moment. For me in teen years I thought my younger pre-teenage years were so beautiful. But now even looking back on my teenage years I realise there was still beauty. |

This is my favourite song from the album as lyrics aside it's such a funky/groovy song that just makes me feel happy.
But looking at the lyrics I think the general sense of this song is that someone is falling in loving with a machine/robot rather than another human. The robot gives them everything they need. Maybe this is pointing towards our modern obsession with technology and social networks that are not so human. |

This is my favourite song of theirs. It's quite a weird heartbreaking love song. What I get from this song is someone that is so infatuated with someone else that they would wait forever for them. They are willing to constantly be hurt by the other person because they love them that much. I think a lot of us can relate to this at some point in our lives. |
