Has she tried googling the person that's missing? That usually works for me!
But seriously, this is a song about somebody she hasn't seen in a long time but she believes is still alive, whereabouts unknown. It is not clear from the lyrics whether the missing person is a lover, a child, or some other relative. The only thing that is clear is that she loves that person very much, and feels her life is not complete without that person. My personal theory is that it is about a child that was put up for adoption, but like i said, the lyrics don't make it clear. It is possible that they may meet again, but given the length of time that has passed, it is not very likely. |

I originally agreed this song was about spiritual awakening, i.e. enlightenment. But I've just re-read it and now I'm not so sure. "I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust"... is it possible the narrator is actually a robot, and "the new age" refers to the singularity, or the replacement of biological creatures by silicon-based ones? What's more likely to survive a true apocalypse: flesh and blood, or mechanicals? "Enough to make my systems blow" makes a lot more sense for an android than for a human being. |
