Falling In Reverse – Fashionably Late Lyrics 9 years ago
This song is about a guy who is revealed to his girlfriend that he was cheating on her with her friend and what was happening before she found out.
The beginning/chorus starts out with saying "It’s 9 o’clock on the dot At the spot
And I’m hanging’ with her friends again", implying that he's with them a lot, and (as usual) his girlfriend's not there. He feels bad about cheating on her and making her cry.
With the next verse, it makes it seem like he never intended on cheating because he really did like the relationship they had. However, with the lines from the chorus "Great taste, a beautiful place And you're fashionably late." he's saying that he caved in to the temptation and it was mostly about convenience. He then says he doesn't want her to be mad, but he understands why she is.
The second verse and bridge show how his interest in her is changing and that he's really starting to like the friend more than her. The bridge explains how people are finding out and he's running out of time before the girlfriend finds out.
When the chorus starts to change from "making out" to "sex" even he's surprised by how far he took it (Fucking all your friends (what?))
By the end, their relationship is pretty much over and he still feels guilty for cheating, however he doesn't seem regretful for breaking it up.

Hey Marseilles – You Will Do For Now Lyrics 9 years ago
"I will lead you if you will follow me
To graveled gray roads, Shakespearean scenes
If only you knew the love of degree
You'd slow that beating heart down
You will do for now"

The narrator is willing to try out this short relationship if the other person is willing to. He could lead them to plain and somewhat darker places, as well as romance and tragedy (Shakespearean). If that other person knew what his intentions were, they wouldn't be as excited (slow that beating heart down)

"The December dark will keep me in the room
Soft ashtray eyes will beg to be found
I'm keeping these walls from speaking too soon
Count your love one in the crowd
You will do for now"

There's something that's keeping him from going on, and she is there to "keep him company." He's almost trapped in a way, and the walls of truth are closing in. She may have been used before (ashtray eyes) and he's saying that she should keep in eye out for the ones that actually loved her in the past.

"I swear these lies won't stay long
The halos and hubris are gone
Shadow your right with my wrong
Once these sheets are gone."

He won't continue to lead her on, and he can't cover it up in confidence and false innocents forever. Once the cover is off, she will be able to shadow her rights/happiness over the wrongs that he did

"I will lead you if you will follow me
To graveled gray roads, cigarette scenes
Regret won't keep the sun from the sea
Soon I'll be leaving this town
You will do for now"

Almost the same as the first verse. He's still going to have a relationship with her, even if they regret it in the end. He's going to leave no matter what in the end, and she will do for now.

Breaking Benjamin – I Will Not Bow Lyrics 9 years ago
I think this song is about a user who is trying to resist the urge to do drugs.
The first part is about his life becoming harder, and the dark is rising (the "urge"). Part of him is telling him to "light the fuse," which could mean lighting a cigarette or other drug. He knows that doing this will take him on the "path that leads to nowhere", so he's trying to save his breath, knowing his addiction problem is far from over.
The bridge is saying he's lost it again (he's relapsed more than once) but this time he won't give in.
The chorus is simple, he's taking control over his addiction, and he won't break/fall again. Shutting the world away could either mean he's going to focus only on getting better and ignore what he use to think was important, or he's shutting away the world of drugs and temptation.
The rest of the song can have either two meanings:

1) He's deciding if he can quit or not, and realizes he can. He's willing to survive with "paranoia" (withdrawal),

2) This one's more negative, but it makes more sense. The dark completely consumes him, and he caves in. When he said "show me where forever dies, take the fall and run to Heaven." he must've said he'd stop forever, but he obviously didn't. Heaven could either mean dying because of drugs eventually, or being high (in the clouds, flying). He decided he'll live paranoid doing illegal drugs, and he lost the will to change. He feels like a cold blooded fake because he didn't keep his promise to quit, and he'll shut the world away and ignore the judgment and disappointment of others

This is a song Vic wrote about his one-again off-again girlfriend. When their relationship started to become better, she got pregnant with someone else's baby and left him. This song is about the night he found out and the emotions he felt.

Birdy – Not About Angels Lyrics 9 years ago
It's about hesitating to love because of unfortunate events (such as death) that could tear them apart. Is it wrong to toss this line/is it bad if I don't say the things I want to say? The rest of the first paragraph the singer asking if you could give up your love.
Angels are people that come and go in your life (possibly implying that we all die eventually, so they all end up leaving). Some make you feel special, and you fall in love.
She continues to sing 'Don't give me up,' saying how she doesn't want the person to leave her/become an angel.
She thinks it's unfair that she's learning to love and it's already being taken away (found something real that's out of touch). Sometimes it can be hard to find the one (searching the whole wide world), and she still isn't sure if she could give it up.
She continues to hesitate and think about the "angels" coming and going. In the end, she realizes it's not about angels; that life isn't about death, but about love and the people that you love.

Birdy – Not About Angels Lyrics 9 years ago
If I keep the fact that this is from TFiOS, it reflects off of Hazel, and her whole 'grenade' saying (I'm a grenade, I'm trying to limit the casualties).
The first verse is about them being limited on time. Hazel knows she won't live for long. She isn't sure if she should give up her love for Augustus so she won't hurt him. The songs about her trying to decide whether or not she should let him go. The angels are people you can love; they come and go, and some of them make us feel special (Gus making Hazel feel like that).

Awolnation – Sail Lyrics 10 years ago
I feel like this song is about Alcohol Drug Dependency (A.D.D.).

First, it is about how he made up his mind to use drugs. When he makes up his mind to use again (and again and again) he blames his addiction, calling it a dependency.

Then, someone that loves the singer is upset about the addiction. He loves the person back, which is why he called him/her an angel crying. The "angel" blames his pride and stubbornness to quit, but he says to blame it on his dependency. He really believes that it is impossible for himself to quit.
He then sails away into the world of drugs, trying to take his mind away from everything.

Next, he begins to admit that he needs help. Part of him wants to ask for it, but the other part is his pride. He then believes that killing himself is the only way to stop

He doesn't know what is wrong with himself. Maybe he is just different from everyone else, so they can't truly understand him. Or he just refuses to listen to others. In frustration, he continues to blame it on his ADD.

He sails into his drugged out mind. "La la la" is his way of resembling how he's high/drunk. In the song, it also says 'sail with me into the dark.' That is him slowly wasting away because of the drugs. The last sails are him slowly dying from an overdose as the words also fade away.

Jeff Buckley – Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen cover) Lyrics 10 years ago
Although this song can be interpreted in many different ways, I've always seen it as the many different things people say to God/in God's name.

The first verse is when people are praying for others, such as a "Lord have mercy on him/her." When it says 'you don't care for music,' even though it 'pleases the Lord,' the baffled king composes a Hallelujah, saying "How could you not want this? Don't you want God in your life?"

The second is people asking God why?/How could you let this happen to me? When he had faith but needed proof, it showed he believed in God, but still didn't really feel close to him. Then he fell in love, but the girl 'broke his throne and cut his hair,' meaning she took his pride, happiness, and love away from him. She caused him to ask God why he had done this (from his lips SHE drew the Hallelujah).

The third verse is asking God what to do. As if it was the same person from verse two, the person is doubtful about their choices and they don't want to make the same mistakes. It could be taken as someone not being sure whether to move on, or it could be the heart breaker asking for another chance (which would connect to 'I've seen YOUR flag on the marble arch). His previous heartbreak made him feel cold and broken, and he never dreamed of love being so cruel and strict (like a victory march).

The fourth is a mixture of saying God out of pleasure and asking "God, what has happened since then?" 'You let me know what was really going on below,' is showing they had an intimate relationship, but he doesn't know what happened to it. The last three lines is a memory of their intimacy/pleasure.

The fifth is someone who uses God's name in vain openly. Sometimes, people are so heartbroken that they become bitter. When it's 'not at night' it means that it is said plain as day. Sometimes, it's someone who hasn't seen the light and they feel hateful, which can cause them to say His name in vain.

BONUS!! There is another verse that is left out in this version! It could be symbolic that it was left out (some people never get to saying this in their lives), but it probably isn't. It goes like:

I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though it all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

It's sad that this is left out, since it seems to sum it up. It could be someone on their deathbed, or someone who has led a meaningless or bad life up to the point. Even with their bad past, the person is able to stand before the Lord of Song. (This could connect to the first verse, and his whole life was the song "Hallelujah") He is asking God for forgiveness, (which pleases the Lord) and the only other thing that he says is "God, I am forever yours."

*This song could also be one person's life, with every relationship and thing that he/she said is a part of their life. Everyone has their ups and downs, and God is always there for you in the end*

Hey Marseilles – Rio Lyrics 10 years ago
For me, this song has always meant to move on and try something new.. The first phrase is about you continuing on with the normal routine and not changing anything. "Silhouette seasons" is about how all of the changes that you use to make are older and distant. Rio is exotic, and it is taking a new chance.
The chorus is simply about moving on before time runs out and the days left to breathe/live are gone. In this new place, the days may seem longer and you aren't wasting time.
The second phrase is about how the people that you know are moving on, and you can either watch as everyone goes (become sad/lonely) or move on to a new place too.
The third is about planning your future and not letting it pass by you (drinking til tomorrow becomes yesterday). If you feel lost or uncertain about taking the chance, you just have to think about the thinks you can see and earn from the experience.

Enigma – Gravity Of Love Lyrics 10 years ago
This song to me is about using your heart and choosing your own destiny.

"Turn around and smell what you don't see
Close your eyes it is so clear-"
This means using your other senses to make your decisions (such as your heart/soul) and that maybe by choosing to use something, such as sight, is clouding your other opportunities. By "closing your eyes" and looking deeper into life, you can find the obvious choice that fits you.

"Here's the mirror, behind there is a screen
On both ways you can get in-"
This to me either means that the mirror is your choice, or the choice that is best for you. The screen can either mean the choices that others have chosen, or the choice that is best for everyone. Either way, there's a path for each, and you get to control it.

"Don't think twice before you listen to your heart
Follow the trace for a new start-"
This basically means to follow your heart, and it can lead you to a new destiny/path.

"What you need and everything you'll feel
Is just a question of the deal-"
This talks about the consequences of choosing your own destiny. You won't really know what will happen to you until after you've already chosen your path. The "question of the deal" won't be answered until it's already happening.

"In the eye of storm you'll see a lonely dove
The experience of survival is the key
To the gravity of love-"
In the middle of the "storm" (life), you will meet a future/potential lover. The lonely dove could also mean yourself, before you started a new path. The more times you follow your heart, the easier it will be to know if this person is the one, and it will be easier to actually make choices based off of you and only you.

"The path of excess leads to
The tower of Wisdom-"
This could mean two things:
1) Simply, following your heart and going beyond can lead to wisdom.
2) The more relationships you have and you give the most love you can to others (which could lead to mistakes) gives you wisdom.

"Try to think about it
That's the chance to live your life and discover
What it is, what's the gravity of love-"
This is the singer giving you the "call to action," saying that you should consider taking your own destiny finding your own love. Basically, live life, and discover love!

"Look around just people, can you hear their voice
Find the one who'll guide you to the limits of your choice-"
Find people that support you/your destiny and choices. Don't be afraid to take some of their opinions. "The one" could be a best friend, or a soul mate, and they will carry you down your path and push you past your limits and to your own destiny.

"But if you're in the eye of storm
Just think of the lonely dove
The experience of survival is the key
To the gravity of love."
Once you've made your own destiny, you may start to doubt yourself. All you have to do is remember the person you were before, and realize that this experience has made you more independent and has led you to wisdom and love.

The Offspring – You're Gonna Go Far, Kid Lyrics 10 years ago
I think the beginning of it:
Show me how to lie
You're getting better all the time
And turning all against one

It's like someone is either in awe, or disgust, asking how the person got away with doing this. Then, the last line:
Is it all that hard to teach
is the instigator kind of snapping at the asker, and then it kind of tells his story afterwards

Pink – Stupid Girls Lyrics 10 years ago
This song is quite simple. It's about how girls these days (not all of them) try to impress people by their looks, and not with their intellect/smarts. It's not saying that girls that try to impress are "stupid", but that they're getting caught up in making decisions that will help their popularity and looks. Really, what Pink is trying to get across is that internal beauty and your is better, and you shouldn't have to hide it because it isn't "in." In the video, it also shows that outer beauty doesn't last

Ed Sheeran – Give Me Love Lyrics 10 years ago
Although it can be interpreted differently from the music video (a girl who turns into Cupid and gives love to everyone, but still desperately wants it for herself), this song to me is about a guy who sees a girl he likes/other people in relationships. He wants to feel the love that others get, and he's tired of being alone every day. The more people he sees, and the more time that passes, he starts to become more and more desperate for love (which can be heard in the emotion/intensity of the "give me love" parts).
It's a really great song, and it can mean a few different things, but that's my opinion :)
