| the "much as The sun would decide to give in Explode into orange" lines are not really a "when pigs fly" thing. All stars will eventually explode into Supernovas and the sun will be no exception, I think he's referring to it as more of an inevitability to him giving those things up. I also think that the things he is referring to has more to do with a religious faith that he feels he can no longer identify with. | |

I agree that it's directed toward organized religion, but not necessarily the mormon or catholic churches. I fell like this is less of a "FUCK YOU" song and more of a "that's not who I am and I'm not going to try to be that anymore" song. He seems like he's saying that hejust has to give up the faith because it was going to happen regardless, like the sun one day exploding into a Supernova. It will happen eventually, but it didn't decide to, it's just who it is. |
