U2 – Stay (Faraway, So Close!) Lyrics 10 years ago
A few lines in this song make me think its about a woman who commits suicide because she is in an abusive relationship, and yet she just cant see that her friend is trying to help. "Far away, so close, up with the static and the radio," as well as "If you jump, you just might fall," and "Three o'clock in the morning, It's quiet and there's no one around, Just the bang and the clatter, As an angel runs to ground. Just the bang and the clatter, As an angel hits the ground." followed by the ending hit on the cymbal makes me think this is a metaphor for her jumping and hitting the ground.

U2 – Bad Lyrics 10 years ago
Bono stated that this song is about Heroin. I have a few interpretations of this song. One, I think this is not just about the city of Dublin in general, but also about Bono watching a close friend go through addiction, and not being able to help him. Another thought i had, was that the song is from the addict's point of view. Its as if someone hurt the addict, so they turned to heroin, and no matter how hard they try they cant stop using, or no one is reaching out to them to help. The phrase "If you should ask, then maybe they'd tell you what i would say" and "If I could, you know I would If I could, I would Let it go... This desperation, dislocation, separation.." make me think this. I can relate, i have used drugs before.
