I know that people are concerned about the "can't decide" lyric, but I actually interpreted this differently. I don't think Brendon's perpetuating the stereotype that bi girls can't "choose" a gender to like (if he were, why would he say "love is not a choice"?). Rather, I think he's turning it on its head. If you look at all those lyrics together, it goes "I am just a villain vying for attention from a girl, a girl who can't decide and here's the reason why: Girls love girls and boys." I see this as him saying that this girl can't choose between him and her girlfriend - that she loves both of them, because she's bisexual. Instead of him saying "you need to decide whether you like girls or guys," he's saying, "you know you like girls and guys and that's why it's so hard to decide whether you want to be with me or her." Maybe I'm wrong, but when you put all the lyrics together, it makes sense. |
