Broadcast – Subject to the Ladder Lyrics | 10 years ago |
At risk of degrading the incredible detail and very pensive expression of these lyrics, I'm going to say very simply (without being a female myself), that they seem to be a fairly in-depth description of the way society continues to look upon, treat and condition women to be. Both in a clear, articulate and yet painfully empathetic viewpoint, somehow Trish expresses everything that 'is' quite objectively, in that she calls out all unfairness without pointing a finger. "Predicted on a graph Cornered by ritual Diminished by impression" Wow. Rest in Peace Trish. |
Stereolab – Pack Yr Romantic Mind Lyrics | 10 years ago |
"Beauty has a cardinal importance, for ugliness cannot be spoiled, and to despoil is the essence of eroticism. Humanity implies the taboos, and in eroticism it and they are transgressed. Humanity is transgressed, profaned, and besmirched. The greater the beauty, the more it is befouled" ~ Georges Bataille (Eroticism, Death & Sensuality, pg 145.) Perhaps this might shed some light on the lyricism's deeper context? |
