Interpol – Same Town, New Story Lyrics | 9 years ago |
This is Interpol's best written song on El Pintor, and probably their best writing for a number of years. |
Hozier – Take Me to Church Lyrics | 9 years ago |
To which I forgot to add, a philosophical aspect of the orgasm is the power it has to strip one of the self and therefore existence. If you think about it, your brain is cycling thoughts, anxieties, plans, moves every waking second. In the presence of an orgasm, your mind is wiped. There is no time, no past and no future, only a short lived present, death signifying you were reborn into it. |
Hozier – Take Me to Church Lyrics | 9 years ago |
La petite mort, french for "the little death", is an idiom and euphemism for orgasm. Give me that deathless death indeed. |
Interpol – Tidal Wave Lyrics | 9 years ago |
Day by day, we watch the gold bar Saved by fame, I see you and you're going far You're truly at the door Of some great admiration Oh, what a sweet serenade And the night is still young Oh, there's a flood coming soon And this rush hits me just like a... Last Friday, I see you in the photo booth You changed your name The screen really takes to you Yeah, you're really breaking through on some great accolades Oh, what a sweet Saturday And the night is still young for love There's a flood coming soon And this rush hits me just like a Tidal wave, a tidal wave, a tidal wave, a tidal wave Oh, there's a flood coming soon and the night is still young for love, Feel the tug of the moon completely gone on a tidal wave... |
Interpol – Breaker 1 Lyrics | 9 years ago |
Correct Lyrics: Come back, come back I'm the warning Come back, come back breaker one You seen the way when I hold you tight asleep beside me there is a slope like an appetite, we descend slowly and I fear it in my deep makeup, the ache inside go away the vacant mind just relay, some explosion from the bright side Come back, come back I'm the warning Come back, come back breaker one You seen the way how it happens right, this beast inside me He leads the way then he's at my side, we feast till i'm starving and I feel my deep makeup, the ache inside go away am I aping some old holiday, some remnants of a wild side I'm inclined cause i've seen my dreams defied and i'll take my turns in stride just speed my feet away Day's begun, grace become babe this week i just went through so much and went through so much darling and I've seen my deep make up the ache inside go away the patience to climb all day the remnants of a mountain i'm inclined cause I need my needs to get by and I've paid my turns in kind just to speed my feet away |
The National – Pink Rabbits Lyrics | 10 years ago |
"I was solid gold, I was in the fight, I was coming back from what seemed like a ruin". What a line. I'm in love with the comparison between his uphill struggle to fend off the dark cloud of this relationship he sings about and that of an almost defeated boxer (to me at least). The brilliant moment when he almost makes the miraculous comeback in the ring, but as the song goes on, you find he never achieved it and ends defeated. |
