Breaking Benjamin – Lights Out Lyrics 10 years ago
I think this song is about the devil, or whatever the devil is to Ben Burnley whether it's his addictions, or illness, or the actual devil or whatever. This is the devil taking his mask off because he has completely defeated a person, or wants that person to believe they are defeated. When you're at your weakest, or believe that you are, the devil will tell you it's checkmate so lay down your king. The devil is putting his foot on the neck of the writer here and just showing his true colors. I win; you're done. I have destroyed you and there's nothing you can do about it so just give up. I own you. But you're so pathetic I can't even use you. I wish there were a more redeeming message, here, but I believe this is just what Burnley was feeling when he wrote this. Good thing he had a musical outlet for it, and he turned it into an awesome f***ing song! Otherwise, I'd hate to think what might have happened to him.

They Might Be Giants – The Statue Got Me High Lyrics 11 years ago
I think it's possible that the writer had a very intense emotional reaction to a work of art, a sculpture in particular, and the lyrics are a metaphorical relaying of that experience.

Something in particular occurs to me regarding the "religion" interpretations I've read:

"The statue got me high
The truth is where the sculptor's chisel chipped away the lie"

If the statue represents the Christian God, as some have implied, it would not have a sculptor.
