Swimming With Dolphins – Sleep To Dream Lyrics 10 years ago
Some relationships, no matter how good a match the people are, just don't work for some reason or another. This song illustrates that quite well, I think. The two people love each other dearly and love to be around one another, but they have to break up. I get the the feeling that they possibly don't communicate very well or have some other sort of fundamental problem that overrides all the benefits of the relationship.
Because they still love each other, they're very bitter about breaking up, hence "packing up with tears in our eyes, it's a pastime I'm used to / getting used to saying goodbye 'cuz it's all we ever seem to do"
This doesn't necessarily mean relationships don't last, but breaking up a relationship that still feels like it could work makes for a pretty dim outlook on the world. like, we're so in love but we still broke up, so how could any couple ever make it work?

Really powerful stuff. When I heard it for the first time, I had to back up and reply the last stanza a few times just because it was so poignant.

Swimming With Dolphins – Diplomat Lyrics 10 years ago
This is pretty straightforward; this guy's dad is a big businessman and expects that his son will follow in his footsteps. He's so sure this will happen that he starts teaching the kid about his business, about how the corporate world works. But, his kid finds the business world too confining and has a much more creative and abstract mind. He rejects timetables and routines. So, he takes off to do what he's always wanted to do (music/art/etc) and finds it very liberating. He doesn't care how well he does as long as he doesn't have to have his dad's lifestyle.

Swimming With Dolphins – Everything's A Miracle Lyrics 11 years ago
I just rediscovered this song a little while ago when I was going through some music I used to listen to, and oh my god I am blown away. This song has just the perfect balance of interesting synth and pretty vocals.

I think the meaning of this song is pretty straightforward; if you take it on more of a general level, it's easily interpreted as the love and adventure of a new relationship with some pretty metaphors with space/stars.

If you look at the lyrics a little closer, I like to think that it's about a pessimistic, maybe kind of flaky guy who met an amazing girl and she's turned his life around.

"You put the clouds aside / Illuminate the sky / Through every dark and hazy night you are my guide"
She's his beacon in the darkness. It doesn't matter how bad he's feeling or how nasty he's acting, she always has a way to make him feel better/see the bright side. When everything looks dark, she finds a way to let him see past the bad stuff and start seeing the good in life again.

"For every town we find / We'll paint a new skyline / We will always wake up in a different place and time"
No matter where they go or what happens to their lives together, they'll always be there for each other. They'll make the best of any situation and keep living.

"As we begin descending faster than illumination / You hold me steady, yeah, you show no fear or limitation"
She's not afraid of change or large obstacles in their life together. Even when things are spiraling out of control, she's there to make keep him steady and make sure he's alright.

"You turn the ocean tide,You shake me up inside / The way I feel with you words can't describe / I don't know why or how / But I can't disavow / I've never felt the way I feel right now."
He came from a bad place, mentally or emotionally, but she's totally changed his life for the better and changed his attitude on life. He's never had this kind of relationship with anybody, but he's not about to dissuade it. He's not sure how he let her into his life or how she managed to become such a big part of it, but it's okay with him.

"So, don't burn out / Just don't burn out"
He knows he's changed a lot since starting a relationship with her, and sometimes he wonders if she gets tired of him, of what a downer he can be sometimes. He doesn't want her to leave, but he's scared that he's accidentally pushing her away.

"I've got the brightest star you'll ever find / Even the sun is jealous of the way you shine"
She's a really beautiful person, inside and out, and he's certain he's found perfection in her, that she's his soul mate. You can't find better than the best, really.

We are the constellations in the sky / Wrap me up in your arms / It's beautiful when time is ours and everything's a miracle."
When they're together, he can't see the bad side of life. She makes everything look beautiful.

Ludo – Scream Scream Scream Lyrics 11 years ago
I never listed to this song all that closely. You know, I just bobbed my head along to the beat. It's a good song and for a long time, that's all I thought about it. But I'm learning that all of Ludo's songs have a double edge. If you don't think about the lyrics, all you catch are the guitar riffs and the words, but not the weight behind them.

I looked up the lyrics on a whim today, and this is just the site I default to for lyrics. And god, I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't this. This song being about the death of a parent makes tons of sense.
My dad died recently. I'd be lying if I said this didn't hurt a little bit listening to it again when I knew the meaning. He wasn't exactly a saint, but his life didn't exactly inspire music. He was just an ordinary guy. But it's those people that deserve songs.

This song has the entire capacity to reduce me to a sniffling lump of self-pity, but it's hidden in this catchy rock song.
This band has serious talent, man. It's hard to hide such a hard topic so easily inside of toe-tapping vocals and head-nodding beats, but they do it really well.

I'm constantly blown away by this band! Ludo is just fantastic!

Mae – Release Me Lyrics 11 years ago
I might be the only one, but I actually get a bit of a sexual undertone here . . . I think this is a really beautiful song with a lot more meaning than just "ooh let's have sex, moremoremore" and I think it talks about a deeper side to intimacy, perhaps the first time? I'm thinking it's like a romance that leads up to the first time for one/both of them.

The song builds up as their relationship builds up, and the climax of the song refers to the height of intimacy (ie sex) but in a way more like they've been planning it, or they both view sex as more like a really intense form of love rather than just simple physical pleasure.

Sorry my interpretation is a little less cute! A lot of the other comments on this seem plausible as well.
