Turin Brakes – The Sea Change Lyrics 11 years ago
Beautiful interpretation for a beautiful song... However, besides the meaning that you got about the world (nature) slowly falling apart, I sometimes get a deeper feeling that they're singing about a growing alienation among people themselves, which then results in complete lonelyness (six billion dropping down to one) and incompetence to deal with any problem, be it personal or of group interest.

Somehow, maybe a changing of the sea means a changing of the society into a completely lonely place in spite all the progress made to connect peple around the globe...

Sometimes when I listen to this song I understann it as a sort of a "wake op call", but not only to preserve nature and engage actively to save it, but also to become aware of the jaded and bitter society that surrounds me, to not give up, to run away from the place it cornered me into and to count on people near me, because I'm not yet alone to deal with it. If anybodys gonna "do it" it has to be US, not them, and it has to be now before it's to late and I realise I can't do it alone.

Maybe I'm just reading into it too much. I'm a sociologist, by the way.
