The Avett Brothers – February Seven Lyrics 11 years ago
Well, hey! Look what day it is. Obviously I'm going to listen to this repeatedly today.

As the previous comment states, Scott Avett did a little commentary on this song, saying that it was pretty straightforward.
The narrator "went on the search for something true", meaning he didn't feel completely satisfied with his current situation so he decided to try some new things (The lines "A perfect blade it slit my throat/And beads of lust released into the air" do make it seem like it could've been an affair of some sort). After a while, though, he realizes what he had before was pretty great.

These lines make it pretty clear,
"There's no falling back asleep
Once you've wakened from the dream
Now I'm rested and I'm ready,
I'm rested and I'm ready to begin."

Just a really beautiful song.

As Tall as Lions – Love, Love, Love (Love, Love) Lyrics 11 years ago
I saw As Tall As Lions plays live a couple of years ago. They ended their show with this song and it was one of the most incredible concert moments of my life. Everybody was singing along as loud as they could and swaying/moving to the music. I remember there was a guy standing in front of me who was so overwhelmed he kneeled down for a moment and held his face in his hands, then shot up and shouted the last of the Love, Love, Loves. It was a pretty magical moment.

Bob Dylan – To Ramona Lyrics 11 years ago
Gosh, this song is so rich in alliteration, internal rhyme, and slant rhyme. It's so pleasing to listen to just from a poetic standpoint.

But to elaborate on the meaning: The narrator is trying to comfort Ramona, a girl who he thinks is perhaps a little idealistic. ("The flowers of the city/Though breathlike, get deathlike at times./And there's no use in tryin'/T' deal with the dyin',/Though I cannot explain that in lines.")

The narrator is obviously very enamored by Ramona, but realizes he can't comfort her. She's pretty steadfast in her beliefs, despite her apparent disappointment and sadness. Hence the last bit of the song where he says "Everything passes/Everything changes/Just do what you think you should do"

Overall: beautiful song. It's definitely one of my favorite Dylan songs.

First Aid Kit – King of the World Lyrics 11 years ago
The narrator is establishing that she won't be bound by the traditional idea that women HAVE to be dependent on men.

Hence the lyrics "I'm nobody's baby/I'm everybody's girl"
She doesn't belong to anyone and she intends to traverse the world as her own person.

When asked her greatest fear she says,

"That things would always remain so unclear
That one day I'd wake up all alone
With a big family and emptiness deep in my bones
That I would be so blinded, turn a deaf ear
And that my fake laugh would suddenly sound sincere"

This certainly could apply to the aforementioned analysis that she's escaping the womanly role; she's afraid she'll one day settle down, have a family, and feel unfulfilled. I suppose her fake laughter would sound sincere because she'd begrudgingly accept it eventually.
But this definitely isn't only applicable women; the idea of settling down (or having anything forced upon you that you don't want) and not feeling happy and fulfilled can be a scary notion for anyone, which is why I like the universality of this song so much.

She further adds on to the theme of being free of any expectations with:

"Now I wasn't born for anything
Wasn't born to say anything
Oh I'm just here now and soon I'll be gone"

and the longing for self-discovery and purpose with,

"Tell me something real
Tell me something true
I just want to feel there's something left that I can do"

She creates and discovers her own meaning in her world. She's the queen of nothing because she won't be held down by what is generally expected of a woman; she's king of the world!

Just a really great song. Conor's addition is lovely, too.
