The Beatles – I Want You (She's So Heavy) Lyrics 10 years ago
John Lennon was a womanizer, if you disagree, you're probably being facetious. This song is about exactly what it says, wanting a woman you know you shouldn't. The weight on your shoulders is obvious when you love someone that you know you shouldn't be allowed to even try for, but holy fuck, is it satisfying.

Jack Johnson – Posters Lyrics 11 years ago
This is more than just a provocation of the way we, as a society, address the issue of self esteem and/or the hypocrisy of such a society; it is instead, an almost satirical song. The narrator, Jack Johnson, describes two people of opposite gender in the same way. In this context — implying that differences in gender are misplaced, something that shouldn't be overlooked, I'll let you think about that. But to go even further, the narrator describes himself as no better. It could even be said that he speaks of the err of himself and everyone else almost in awe, with a level of respect for being able to "strap it on and suck it in," while simultaneously denouncing the risibility of it all. How pointless it is that we all strive for an identical goal, one we don't even want, and in doing so we have only discard of what we actually value; in the narrators case, love. The three of them try so hard to conform, they lose themselves. "Check out my outside there aint nothin in here," is the clearest line in the song; telling us that he's tried to conform, was unable, left empty but for his facade.

Miike Snow – The Wave Lyrics 12 years ago
I disagree, I'm fairly sure the three songs are about the music industry and artists selling out to big record companies. How in Paddling Out the man has finds his own style and he's all happy and he likes himself, then the kids come in and at first he's happy to see them, then they change him and he hates what they make him. Then he lives with it for a short while, while he's dancing in the hallway. And the room full of people that look just like him terrify him, and they're all used to it. The crash is either him trying to regain his independence or the industry failing. Probably the former. I'm not as sure about The Wave. But I'd assume it has something to do with the music making the children lifeless and like zombies, while the police, who you'll note ALL have coffee and doughnuts, are fat and happy doing terrible things like cleaning up a bunch of dead children. I'm almost certain I'm wrong on that one, but I'm positive about Paddling Out.

Pink Floyd – Breathe Lyrics 12 years ago
Lyrically, maybe my favourtie song ever. Simply because it tells you things you recognize, but never really noticed. It's a beautiful reminder to never ignore simplicity, and to always try and recognize beauty.

Matt Costa – Wash Away Lyrics 12 years ago
It's not about relationships. It's about the people who jumped out of the World Trade Center towers. From the point of view of a hopeless observer, the entire nation.
