One great review said that this song is about "realising being in relationship that has no future" and some break-up thoughts. FAUX! I think that the music video explains it well. The "let it go" is not the answer, because they are some problems in relationship, but it can be fixed. It is about the hope, not letting it go. Really take a look at the music video. |

It's not a hidden fact that Win Butler had some connections with the Mormon religion. Well, I think that he realized that it is something that is not true and he left them. "Thought you were praying to the ressurector, turns out it was just a reflektor" line I think it shows this really clear. So, what we know from this song? Win is not a Mormon anymore. |

This song continues the thoughs that are saying in half light I. Half light is something middle between dark and light. Arcade Fire has a lot of religious themes, so I guess this is about living in the middle line - doing something bad and something good. "Lock us up safe - and hide the key... in the half light we´re free" they like the light they the both like the dark I guess. This is phase betweed being really good, everyone of us once had it. But Half Light II. (no celebrations) says, that he starts to like it and starts to prefer that kind of living. "Pray to God I won´t live to see the death of everything that´s wild." Then he says about day, that he knew about it. But still it took him by suprise. I believe it is about a man who started to like the living in half light. Doing something bad and good. I really love this song... but I am a little puzzled by the meaning... I think it is about a relationship, but bad. The name of the song says: Apocalypse dreams For me the whole song looks like a big dream. For example, he was dreaming that he met some girl that he "didn´t even know" her and "now he´s gonna miss her" and when he woke up he realized that it was bad it was just apocalypse dream. but it is just my guess --- it could be also song that you should listen to it and don´t care about meaning ´cause no meaning is there. I don´t know. |

I think this song is not as much about sex as the interpretation above me is. He´s definetely sayin´ that when he´s seeing someone he cannot control the part of him that swells up... So he likes the person. But he´s also singing: I´m saving my energy to pick up (maybe from that place, from that chair ... by me - go away) Every night he´s burying their love. Baby you are really the best (should it be about sex? Can be... but I think it´s not. She´s best, she can be the best. She can have a nice hair and red hair, whatever) Then he´s living the city, because he´s sick by the city and he saw that his faces are changing... Say hello to the angles ... I can say that right now I see it this way: He likes someone, but he wants to say hello to the angles (figuratively be good, figuratively get into the heaven) So he bury their love each night (he´s in celibate, when you want to say it in funny way) And he thinks that this is the way which he can get there ... ... "We should be like this all the time, for the Earth, one day, will die." I think "Earth will die" - it doesn´t mean literally. I think people on Earth will die. But why would he say that you can´t do what you want (or just a while) and we should be like this all the time? I think, that if you will do what you want, you´d do it just a while and then you will die. And people who don´t do what they want they will live forever. My thinking. |

Whole song is by my thinking about someone, who wants to run from his memory (because he do something bad?). Win is singing, that stop running from your memory, because nothing lasts forever and in the middle of the ocean is a great wave for you (maybe it would kill you?) So, I think that the line: "Your lover was for hire, have you noticed he´s been late," is a warning. Before is Win singing: Stop now before is too late. And then he say the line about the lover, so I think that Win is saying a warning to some person and then he say that he knows someone who is late ... lover of you that is for hire. This is my interpretation. Neon Bible are catholic priests. Neon (annoying light - you can see it everywhere) Bible says: Is a big road and a small road. When you are born - you are on the big road. You do not have to find it. But if you want to find the small one - that´s hard. So - we are know that priests are theaching us things, that aren´t in Bible. For example: Hell, Forever living soul, Three God in one God... etc "What I know is what you know is right. It was wrong but you said it was right." - Right. Priests are teaching us about things "that´s right" but they are wrong. Another example: "Oh god, well, look at you now! Oh, you lost it, but you don't know how! In the light of a golden calf Oh god, I had to laugh!" - Win is definitely not talk to God. He is talking to people, who are doing idols. Golden calfs. And what are doing priests? The are praying to golden calfs, what is by Bible wrong! So, "Not much chance for survival, if the Neon Bible (priests) is right/true." That´s my interpretation. |
