30 Seconds to Mars – Hurricane Lyrics 12 years ago
I see this song as a conversation between the American leaders and Al Queda.

"Tell me would you kill, to save a life?" This is Al Queda asking the westernised countries would they kill their terrorist group for the sake of saving the lives of their own.

"Tell me would you kill, yto prove you're right?" This is the westernised leaders asking them if they would kill for the sake of what they believe in... to prove to everyone that they are right about what they believe in.

"crash, crash, burn. let is all burn. This hurricane's chasing us all underground." Jared is basically saying here that were are in a vicious circle ("hurricane") they we cannot get out of. we are running round in circles trying to find the answer to make everyone happy with their beliefs... but while these westernised countries are trying to keep the peace, everything is crashing and burning around us (eg 9/11, 7/7, going to war in afghan...)

"where is your God?" this could be both sides asking that question. the westernised leaders could be asking them where is their god to prove they are right about what they are saying? where is their god to show them they will go to paradise when they carry out their plans (suicide bombing). but they could be asking the westerns where is their god to look after them while they are attacking them?

"do you really want me dead or alive to torture for my sins?" they are asking the westerns... do they want to killthe terrorists, or keep them alive and torutre them for their sins first... this was definitly questionable during the capture of bin laden and sadam hussain.

I dont know.... I think im pretty on key with this... would be nice to know what you think about my interpretation anyways :)

30 Seconds to Mars – Buddha For Mary Lyrics 12 years ago
I'm agreeing with the people who are saying this is about christianity and how it is very corrupt these days. I however, have a slightly different view of how it can be percieved too. I almost feel as if Jared is taking the p*** out of religion in this song. He is stating how religion contradicts itsself in moderised society today. Christianty states we should have all of these morals, and if you are a christian you should follow them. However, mostt people in westernised countries are christian these days and the mass majority do not follow these morals, such as premarital sex is now widely accepted, but within the bible is not.

I also get the feeling on inequality within the "conversation part of the song"... its talking about sexism. How the woman is saying, she believes his lies because apparently woman were not clever enough to question men back in those days about their political views and their opinions. It was also looked over when men raped woman back then too...
I dont know... maybe i'm off key but what I do know is that this song is very copmplex to try and understand... and there could be so many perceptions of it...

30 Seconds to Mars – Closer To The Edge Lyrics 12 years ago
I personally don't think this song is anything to do with a relationship. I have been following Mars for a long time (ECHELON!!) and the vast majority of their matieral isn't about relationships (Granted, some are). I think this is about seeing the world in a different perspective. The person singing was obviously in a dark place (I lost my self..) but now they are seeing the world in a new light, and they are not afraid to live their life happily (I will live my life..) Its almost like he is willing us to believe he will live his life happily when he shouts the lyrics with so much emotion...

Anyway, this is one opinion, I'm sure there are much more :)
