The Rolling Stones – 2,000 Light Years From Home Lyrics 12 years ago
Aldebaran, a giant red star about 44 times the diameter of the Sun and with 150 times the Sun's luminosity, is "only" 65 light years from the earth. I think he missed his stop!

In any event, maybe life on earth looks so bleak to him that loneliness and life on a hot red star is an improvement. And of course the red star could be a metaphor for satanism.

At today's fuel prices, this is one expensive voyage, that's for certain!

The Rolling Stones – Let's Spend The Night Together Lyrics 12 years ago
The song is about putting everything else aside for now -- letting go of all thoughts and words -- and just letting physical desire reign between the two people. He hopes that she succumbs to desire too!

The Rolling Stones – Stupid Girl Lyrics 12 years ago
The way she professes to know things that she doesn't and the way that she is two-faced, shows her stupidity. Stupidity is defined by her lack of character. As he says, he doesn't judge her on superficial things that don't matter. I do agree that the song targets a certain type of woman -- it's not a misogynistic song. In a broader sense however -- and probably most importantly -- the "girl" is a metaphor for established society's closed-mindedness - devoid of trueness.

The Rolling Stones – She's A Rainbow Lyrics 12 years ago
The beauty of a woman can only be likened to that of nature -- and it's an awe-inspiring nature. I like the delicate piano piece which reminds me of a music box with a dancing ballerina. There's an implict drug reference as well -- "she" being a metaphor for the psychedelic trip.

The Rolling Stones – The Lantern Lyrics 12 years ago
This song tells of lovers -- a love written in the stars. She's passed on, and he beckons her return when it's his time to die, so that he can die not alone but with her at his side, and they can be together into eternity as destiny would wish it. The lantern is a metaphor for their love.

The Rolling Stones – Jumpin Jack Flash Lyrics 12 years ago
This song speaks of adversity, and once through it, we've earned our wings and all will be fine -- in fact, "a gas" (e.g., the adversity is dead and gone, but we aren't).

The Rolling Stones – Child of the Moon Lyrics 12 years ago
I'd like to comment further about the possible allusion to drugs in the song. From that perspective, the prospect of joy I refer to above could suggest a drug trip gone splendidly (a wide-awake pleasure). As if to say "don't knock me out but don't throw me to the sun either". In this interpretation, the moon ("she") can be seen as the drug itself.

The Rolling Stones – Child of the Moon Lyrics 12 years ago
Lots of imagery for a song with limited lyrics - water being a primary reference. Moon Child is an astrological sign and is a water sign. The crescent moon is represented as a lady in the sense of a Florence Nightingale. When he sings of the child of the moon, he is singing of himself and of the prospect of joy and relief from gloom (probably unrequited love) as represented by the coming of the sun.
