Yes I can see that. Tihis breakup has taught her about him/herself as well as the ex in question. She sees the sun and beautiful day but she feels broken. Like shes stuck in the house miserable realizing she's just as responsible for it as he is. She wants to take back control of her life be happy again |

This was the first record I bought with my own money way back in...nevermind. I've always thought it was about a guy going on the str8 and narrow before he asks his girl to marry him. Made your mind up to forever to be mine. = married. Could've tripped easy but I've changed my ways. And true superman and green lantern ain't got nothin on Donovan. |

I'm not sure of its exact meaning. some of thew details seem a little muddled but the impression I got from the lyrics was first 'when johnny came home with a gift for me' (call me old) but i figured that meant johnny just got back from the vietnam war. and johnny wasn't quite right ever since. I do think its about a guy who has a gay lover/friend since they were younger boys, like they'd known each other for a really long time. it wasn't like a 'romance' thing. it was just something that had been going on without any definition for a long time. enough that when johnny got married he didn't know how to reconcile all of the loose ends of his life. and i think he was standing with his gun pointed at his childhood friend's head when the song begins. he was going to kill him cause he just wanted to be happy with is wife and normal life but there was one loose end he couldn't reconcile. he doesn't shot the his lover but i'm not sure what does happen. |
