Ellis Paul – The World Ain't Slowin' Down Lyrics 13 years ago
This song is a break up song. The significant other is upset, "crying," and sitting at the subway about to leave your life. I picture NYC as the location with the subway and the restless passengers waiting to leave to go home. "I laugh out loud,'cause it's the one thing I hadn't been trying," After a relationship ends badly, you feel like you cannot yell at each other anymore, and all you can do is just laugh at everything (this is after you broken up.) There are two quotes in this song, I know it says "you say," but to me it relates to me as a she. This song relates to me as a break up with one of my ex's and the "Baby, you'll never change" is exactly what she told me. To me it means, we were not meant to be together, our chemistry did not mix.
The chorus is about trying to get over the break up and move on with your life. you can be upset for weeks, but if you look up you will notice that the world is leaving you behind.

My relationship felt like it was holding me back from many things in life. The second verse, to me, was the awaking after the breakup and feeling better about everything. I did get a "sensation, a joy and frustration" from being happy not being with her anymore, but still felling upset over how you actual broke up took place(lets say her cheating). The freedom does numb you, but you do drift back into sadness over what happened, but its not as bad as before.

In my relationship there was trust issues, as I feel there was in this song. "You packed up all your handbags, Throwing off the sandbags, I let go and you stepped free." The "war or breakup" was over and and she was packing, during this time our walls (barriers) were self destructing. I told her I didn't want to loose her, but I didn't trust her anymore; and I don't think I ever did - "You didn't choose to, It's just how your karma came." I had it coming from the beginning. But, I learned a lot from it was obvious from the beginning, looking back hindsight; It was obvious - "It hit me like a south-bound train."

Now, about the kid on the marry-go-round, not exactly sure what it means. Maybe being lost in the relationship.
