I grew up in a small town in Northern Michigan and these lyrics hit close to home reminding me of them good old days. I grew up going fishing all of the time and I miss those days. At least the lakes are still there and there are no strip malls there but if there were it would be even more depressing. I cherish those days in my heart and as Reverend Peyton says them old days are gone so you can’t dwell on them too long. This song makes me feel better because I know others feel the same way I do.
In addition, the part about homemade Halloween costumes is exactly speaking to me when I was growing up. My mother was a sewer and made a lot of my costumes. At the time I was embarrassed but now I am so proud of my mother. She is truly an amazing woman who had 10 kids and had to make things.

Timeless really moves me since I lost my uncle last year and my wife lost her Grandma. In an interview with Mikel Jollett the lead singer and writer of Aiborne Toxic Event says he lost some family members which inspired this song. The song is really moving and touching. I love the lyric “How the weight of their loss is like the weight of the sun” the loss of a love one really does feel that way. I love how the song touches on death which is a very somber event but it’s also a positive song. The song is positive because it talks about living forever with the person you love which is very beautiful. |

I grew up in a small town and these lyrics hit close to home reminding me of the stupid things I did when I was growing up. I like the following lyrics about how there must have been a guardian angel watching over us because we should have died a long time ago. I’ve been there driving on country roads and almost killing all of us locking up the breaks going almost 100 mph on icy roads when someone turns in front of you off a side road ahead. We went around them going about 60 mph on the shoulder after my friends yelled from the back seat to go around go around them. If we didn’t we would have crashed right into the back of them. It was a very scary situation which I will never forget. Then I like how he brings up what will we say to our kids when they want to play with ninja swords. It really puts things in perspective. How can you absolutely say NO when you did all the same stupid shit when you were a kid? I will say NO but I just hope my child follows my wife’s steps and not my stupid teenage actions.
