Try reading Joyce Carol Oates short story, "Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?", she references this song in her story and dedicated the story to Dylan. It's a sad story, but the song as she uses it refers to a loss of innocence. |

It was written after Joyce Carol Oates wrote the short story, "Where are you going, Where have you been?" but it seems to fit. She dedicated that story to Bob Dylan and references one of his songs in the story. There are several Bob Dylan overtures in DMB music, so I'm wondering if DMB was inspired by this story. If you follow Connie is Oates story, you could easily surmise DMB was referencing her. |
