this song shouldn't be analyzed because it means something different to everyone. that's it. and i like the rag doll dancing.
this is my favorite song because i can relate to it so much and it's just really effing good. i hate everyone's explanation of this. they're looking way too deeply into it. the whole song describes a feeling.
i would say what it means to me or what that feeling is, but i can't. the only thing i can say is when you've had that feeling, you just know exactly what he means. exactly. and the song suddenly means everything to you. |

eff you Blindwish! "It's so hard to find mainstream music that isn't designed for little girls." this IS designed for little girls. the parts like "i want to blow you... away" and "i want to see you go down.... on one knee" are censored like that so that the little kids can take it as "la la la she really likes this guy, hee hee!" and the older kids can take it as "hey she really likes him, she wants to eff him but still loves him even more as a person." and all her lyrics are semi-childish in general. all mainstream pop is whether you want it to be or not. its enevitable. i probably spelled that wrong, oh well. so those pauses are intentional and they wanted you to notice them whether you like it or not. its a old technique used in a lot of songs.
and she's not a poser because she's not punk, just on the edgier side of trendy dress. don't misclassify her.
i love these lyrics, theyre me and my girlfriend. i cant believe she likes avril lavigne though; its insane. were emo kids pretty much. oh well, she's a sucker for lyrics. i love that about her. she'll listen to anything minus rap, metal, and most mainstream pop as long as it has lyrics she can relate to. i love her. she mailed me this song and now i love it. i want to tell her i want to marry her and be with her forever but im already afraid im too obsessed and she sees that in me.

it sounds different because ted is more hXc. he used to play in a hXc band, he listens to hXc now. the song has the slight hXc edge. and the down-to-earth ted feeling on top of that.
they really need to figure out that they should play this in concert. so many people want them to and they never do because, well no one knows why. and it sucks. |

"the a piece of glass sticking in my back, and tar covering my mouth" doesn't mean he has everything wrong for him. it means that he feels so useless, like he can do nothing, absolutely nothing. glass in one's spinal cord makes it so that all body functions from there down won't work. one becomes paralyzed. therefore he can't move anything but his head and apparently his hands. he can't talk, eat, etc. because of the tar. he can only breathe ( through his nose)(wow). so thus the line means he feels like he can only lie there.
and by the way i disagree with myself -- i dont think it means suicide. |

this is my std favorite song and also my favorite song in general. ted is wonderful. the bass line is incredible. now on to my interpretation:
ok. this song is about loving someone so much that you want to spend the rest of your life with them, keeping in mind that you dont want the whole "settle-down-and-have-2.5-children-and-a-white-picket-fence" thing. you want to be together, but still all over the place (basically ninteen forever). |
