Regina Spektor – Samson Lyrics 13 years ago
I heard that the song was about a friend with cancer...and that makes sense with the lyrics. She is comparing her friend, probably lover, to Samson - when Samson cut his hair, he lost his strength; as her love got weaker due to cancer, his hair started to fall out. Then he "went right back to bed"...he died.

"We couldn't break the columns down
No, we couldn't destroy a single one
And the history books forgot about us
And the Bible didn't mention us"

He didn't do anything big, and the world forgot about him, just another victim of cancer.

Alternatively, the first time I heard the song, I imagined someone who loved someone, so completely, that they let themselves be made vulnerable by them. Samson, whose strength came from his hair, let his love cut his hair because he loved her that much.

Evanescence – Breathe No More Lyrics 13 years ago
To me, this song is about someone who is different and better to other people, and people around her are always trying desperately to change her, telling her that she is the one who is wrong (I hope that makes sense). "Lie to me, convince me that I've been sick forever / And all of this will make sense when I am better," is about how everyone is telling her that she is in the wrong, and should change.

At the same time, the song seems to be talking about a relationship where doesn't know if he loves her for her looks, or who she is ("I know the different between myself and my reflection / I just can't help but to wonder, which of us do you love?"), which is a bit confusing, as I can't quite make a connection between the two meanings...
