Mother Mother – Let's Fall In Love Lyrics 11 years ago
The lyrics seem to be interchanging love and sex, and is ambiguous about whether or not falling in love is a good thing or not.

The Killers – Prize Fighter Lyrics 11 years ago
Using a sports metaphor, I think this song is just about being enamoured with a girl. And this guy is just in awe of her - she seems to have it all, and be doing it all, and he wants to be there for her in any way he can. He's also a little afraid that he's going to lose her.

The Devlins – World Outside Lyrics 12 years ago
It seems to be about a man realizing he is falling in love with a woman while having sex with her.

Fleet Foxes – Sim Sala Bim Lyrics 12 years ago
What do I see in your eyes?
Besides my reflection hanging high?

Maybe this means that he thinks that his love is just too far above him, and reflects what he wants to be?

Lana Del Rey – Born to Die Lyrics 12 years ago
I agree with the majority of the people here who say it's about a doomed relationship. They knew from the beginning that it couldn't last forever (You and I - we were born to die ... Sometimes love is not enough). They're very attracted to and/or in love with each other, but are not suited for each other in the long run.

I think the first stanza, it shows that she's wavering and wants to go back to him (Feet don't fail me now), and she hopes to God that she's made the right decision. And at the end of her life, she hopes to get him back, where perhaps other life concerns are not a priority, e.g. drug use, money, fidelity (But I'm hoping at the gates, they'll tell me you're mine).

In the second stanza, it seems she's talking about what life is like after she's left him. She's lonely and wondering if she's made a mistake, and possibly she wants him back, because everything is so unfamiliar without him (Can you make it feel like home if I tell you you're mine?).

Then in the video, there are multiple images that reference strangulation and/or death, signifying that the relationship is very unhealthy, and culminating in the final image, where she dies in a fiery car crash with them deliberating losing control while kissing in the car. Maybe a projection of what would happen if they stayed together? Consumed in their dangerous lust? The male is not unscathed. You can see he's also bleeding, but still alive. I don't know what that means. Maybe he's less invested in the relationship. It may also reference the couple's sexual chemistry ("Le petit mort") as well as death.

Bedouin Soundclash – Elongo Lyrics 13 years ago
I think it does have to do with conflict. I'm not sure about the meaning of the song, but "we draw lines in the sand," I think is telling. That boundaries between countries are constantly shifting and human-made and can be washed away easily.

The Pretty Reckless – Make Me Wanna Die Lyrics 13 years ago
Codeh - I think you are pretty close.

I also think it's about innocence being broken and falling in love/lust.

This young thing had a bright future, and was very innocent (maybe Taylor?). "Opportunities for eternity."
But now she's shown this other world by another person, who represents everything she is not. "Everything looks better when the sun goes down." and "Show me all the things I shouldn't know."

Now she's throwing it all away for him/her.
But she also feels as if she isn't good enough for him/her. "I could belong to the night, [but she doesn't]."
She's the light and he/she is the dark.

I definitely see the connection to vampires, but in real life, it could be a reference to a musician who lives a nocturnal lifestyle as well.

The Pretty Reckless – Just Tonight Lyrics 13 years ago
I think it's just about a relationship, and it's not necessarily an abusive one. But it's one that she knows isn't working. He doesn't know her.

She's high, and he's drunk. And she wants to tell him all that she feels. But because of these physical factors she doesn't and can't. So instead of being alone and ending this relationship, she stays with him for the night, and they make love because it's better than being alone.

"And when the light hits [his] eyes," (in the morning), she'll leave.
