Two possible explanations spring to my mind: 1) It's either about an abusive relationship narrated from the view of the abuser. 2) Or about a relationship between a drug and its target where the narrator is the actual drug. |

I don't think this song is necessary about sex, my impression is a bit different. 'Cause it feels like I've been I've been here before You are not my savior But I still don't go To me, this part of the lyrics is the most important one. She's unhappy and depressed and she's trying fill that void by being in a relationship. It works, but after a while she starts to lose herself again, as said in the beginning of the song, and she dissolves. Eventually, she recognizes that her partner isn't the one who can save her, but she still doesn't go. This is a thing I've learned over the years -- if you can't make yourself happy, no one can. Just my 2 cents. |

Not many comments here about this spectacular song. I think it's about an abused person (the mother) who escaped her abuser and sort of created another personality (the daughter) as a defensive mechanism to protect herself. Daughter because children are supposed be innocent and untouched. It's obvious that the mother and the daughter are the same person. In the song, she's escaping from her abuser, but is still seeing him everywhere she turns whether he is really there or not (probably not). I may be way off the mark here, but that's the impression this song gives me. Great song. |
