Interpretation #1: This song is about vampires. Evidence: "everything looks better when the sun goes down", "opportunities for eternity", "I could belong to the night", "burn up in the light", "taste me, drink my soul", "I'm burning in the light" Conclusion: She or the subject of the song is a vampire (or other creature of the night), possibly both of them, and there's a lot of forbidden romance going on, especially all the references to dying for the subject. Vampires because of the aversion to light, drinking of souls and belonging to the night. Interpretation #2: Some kind of Romeo and Juliet fatalistic romance. Evidence: "Everything looks better when the sun goes down", "I had everything", "you make me wanna die" "I'll never be good enough" "I would lie for you" "I would die for you" "I would steal for you" Conclusion: She or the subject is not literally going to "burn up in the light", more if you look at them with too much scrutingy (for example, under a bright light or in the light of day) the love will not be all it seems. The subject seems to be corrupting the narrator, making her willing to die, lie and steal for him or her. I DO NOT THINK THIS HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH TWILIGHT. |
