College – A Real Hero Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I logged into my account, which I haven't logged into for years and even forgot the password to, just to give you a thumbs down. This song has absolutely NOTHING TO DO WITH MASCULINITY, so for you to jerk yourself and talk about how females like to male bash, and this one song is praising masculinity? You are despicable. This song doesn't celebrate masculinity. It celebrates humanity. We live in a world that some consider dystopic; everyone's out for their own interests, stealing and killing, lying and buying. This song is about that one person who goes against that; unlike everyone else, they do the right thing. They help people, they save people, they try to create a utopia, and don't contribute to the dystopia. The song is praising this person. "You are a real human being, and a real hero". Everyone else, whose killing, stealing, lying, and buying? They aren't human beings, and they aren't heros. They're villains and parasites. It's got nothing to do with masculinity, femininity, or any other gender role. It's got everything to do with compassion and a desire to be a good to people. |
Silversun Pickups – Melatonin Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I don't really like that whole 'he's talking to his dead friend in his dreams' concept. I mean, it could make sense and it would be a nice meaning for the song. But... bleh, just not for me. I like to think it's about those wonderful dreams we have that include a person who we've never seen before, but are heads over heels in love with. In the song, the singer wakes up and takes some melatonin to be back with her- which I can somewhat relate with. Whenever I wake up from those kind of dreams, I immediately want to back to sleep again as well. I can't specifically tie all the lyrics into this proposed song meaning, but I think "so sweet and unknown" part really supports my interpretation. In these dreams, I don't know the person. They're an unknown person to me. Yet, they're sweet and I'm in love with them. |

So mournful, it's like he's in a constant state of longing. |
that dog. – Long Island Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Not many people appreciate the better things in life; sitting down with a boyfriend/girlfriend/crush just watching tv, eating food together, driving nowhere, sharing a cigarette. What I love about that dog. is the innocence and simplicity. |
that dog. – Hawthorne Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I think it's pretty straight-forward. She's driving around looking for a boy she likes/is dating, then finds him playing a punk rock show in a garage. She saw him having fun (and i saw you as a child), and she was watching his dreams come true. He was a musician, playing songs. |
Giant Drag – Swan Song Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I think these are more correct: the 1st bit comes straight from the lyric sheet provided in the EP. Unfortunately, she didn't write the "broken heart" bit in the lyrics sheet, so it's up to our ears to figure out. I think I nailed it though. She doesn't pronounce a lot of syllables, even though she writes them in the lyrics. When there's something inside I can never say a word quite right And I never believed That you wanted much more from me Than a comfort inside And a sedated girl by your side And there's no need to lie All our truths, they will come out in lines and rhymes and reprise once again Broken hearts of yours and mine, Crooked teeth from empty smiles I'll take just what you prescribed Medicated forced reply I don't want to Love me like you used to do |
