The Lemonheads – Bit Part Lyrics | 8 years ago |
The question is does he want a bit part because he knows even asking for that is asking for a lot or because he wants a small role, i.e. responsibility? |

Simon and Garfunkel – Old Friends Lyrics | 10 years ago |
"Sat on their parkbench like bookends" "Sharing a parkbench quietly" They're sharing a park bench, but they are sitting with a space between them (as bookends do). They're old friends, but time has dried up their conversation and they have nothing left to say. |
Bon Iver – RE: Stacks Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Jefferson Airplane – Today Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I don't think so. "today I realize how much i'm in love with you" I think it's about an man obsessed; he's a slave for her. matches the haunting vibe. |

The Everly Brothers – All I Have To Do Is Dream Lyrics | 12 years ago |
the speaker is either rejected or too scared to even approach the infatuated one. so he dreams to be with her. "i can make you mine" i picture he tells her his feelings, she rejects him. dreaming is a way he can make her his; being with her in a false reality. or "all i have to do is dream" makes it sound like the singer is looking for the easiest way to be with her. perhaps he is scared out of his mind about rejection. is he saying why should i run the risk of telling her when i can simply be with her in my dreams? or is he afraid of being with her and and discovering the real her does not equate image of perfection he knows in his dreams. he rather keep the idea of her pristine than literally be with her and accepting who she truly is: imperfections and all. "gee whiz, the only trouble is i'm dreaming my life away" he has some ambivalence about this fantasy |
Kanye West – Monster Lyrics | 12 years ago |
i interpret the song as a boast of immorality and being feared, almost saying "yea I'm bad, so what?" "Now she claiming I bruised her esophagus Head of the class and she just want a swallow-ship I'm living the future so the presence is my past My presence is a present, kiss my ass" he's injuring her and his response is kiss my ass. And yet there seems to be a theme of insecurity in "Monster". "Imma need to see your fucking hands at the concert" Kanye speaking about his hunger for approval and fame. and Jay-Z "Everybody wanna know what my Achilles heel is: Love I don't get enough of it" |
Kanye West – Monster Lyrics | 13 years ago |
you are right some women do like rough sex, however i do not think they enjoy it to the extent of "bruising her esophagus" |
Sharon Van Etten – One Day Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Unlike the recording, sharon now sings "One Day" like this: Sister don't mind that I'm not on time she knows that i've been like that sick of trying don't let mind momma still love and daddy still love they know that i've been like that unlike mine: true and kind Call me outside and I will now be and I'll be fine with that don't leave me now do you love me back? Distance is fine and all you can carry nothing is big like that don't see me now you don't see me back oh one day i'll be fine with that don't leave me now do you love me back? Just to remind you I'm a mistake How come you don't want to know You don't want to see you don't want a show Kicking myself I know that you're tough Yeah we can pretend we're that Gotta see that we can't be like that oh one day i'll be fine with that don't leave me now do you love me back? Snow is outside but I'm by your fire I feel all the love you bring Y'gotta see how we can see this out Summer in mind and spring by your side we'll see all the love we'll keep gotta see that we can't be that oh one day i'll be fine with that don't leave me now do you love me back? don't leave me now do you love me back? don't leave me now do you love me back? |
Kanye West – Monster Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Love this song it is sick, HOWEVER i cannot help but cringe during "I put the pussy in a sarcophagus Now she claiming I bruised her esophagus" it is grossly disrespectful to women-he is boasting that he penetrates so voraciously that it has a fatal outcome on the woman. |
Vampire Weekend – Oxford Comma Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I think it's about his relationship with a pretentious girl who thinks she's of a higher class then him and more educated. She's frustrated with his trouble to inarticulate, especially how he feels about her (Why would you speak to me that way/Especially when I always said that I/Haven't got the words for you). He is annoyed with her snootiness and criticisms of him. As for the Lil' Jon reference. He's analogizing himself to lil' John; they both aren't eloquent with their words, but at least they tell the truth. |
