The Stone Roses – Standing Here Lyrics 10 years ago
Great damn track! My interp as follows:

He travels to see her but makes it seem like he's travelling around the town. The guys a drifter. He met his match in this girl, she's distant and he doesn't know how to pull in closer. He tours around of course and enjoys it, but he stands absolutely still when she smiles. She slows him down.

The window bit I interpret is that he's arrives at her door and she's not home. So he looks through her window to get into her place and she's on the roof and she just falls on top of him and she muffles his yells of "ow!" while apologizing loudly. Weird but funny. A nice way of saying she's the key to "home" and it's common knowledge that is where the heart is.

Then he goes on to say he's everywhere, meaning he doesn't stay in one place. But she makes him stand still. And he wants her to know what kind of effect her smile has on him, so he's trying to find the words to explain. Then he just goes screw it, and quits thinking about it so much.

Throughout the song, he acknowledges that the girl doesn't get him. She doesn't think like him. She doesn't feel him when he tries to get close. I think these are fears born from not wanting to acknowledge his feelings because he would have to transition from adolescence to adulthood.

Then the girl has to yell to the daft boy that she would feel safe forever in his arms and makes him feeling secure. What a powerful way to end the song. This song well captures my adolescent romances. I especially like the line "always thought I'd have the answer." No sh** I thought that back then. It's only when you become an adult, you realize you didn't know anything at all!

The Smiths – Accept Yourself Lyrics 10 years ago
Marr's guitar is so in tune with Morrissey's sorrow here... His guitar playing is always beyond excellent but I feel that he prompted a well of beautiful, unhinged emotion from Moz here.

The meaning? Simple enough. He is asking himself when he will get over what hinders him from getting what he wants from life. Allow me to try to go into depth here...

'Kick with the fray' meaning hanging out with the crowd. He wishes he were popular and able to fit in but he sees his flaws before he even tries. He sees in his dreams, 'How dearly I'd love to get carried away' this poignant URGE to find love that he even enthusiastically draws plans up only to sit and also realize all the reasons why his dreams won't come true....

Jesus and the lines, 'time is against me now...' is a splendid yet heart wrenching smack from reality that he is running out of time with the pressure of aging but he cannot help but make himself his own worst enemy.

I cannot help but think the huge thing that stopped him the whole time is that he couldn't accept that he's gay... even if he doesn't mention it. I just think shyness can be overcome eventually but the lines 'Oh how do I feel about the past? Others conquered love but I ran' just come off to me as WHAT could be holding him back in the form of retrospective?

I honestly don't think Moz hates his clothes; I just don't see him hating his choice of clothing. He's had the same style for awhile now. I think he hates who's IN those clothes for lacking enough confidence to get what he wants which is essentially love, so he degrades his clothing and himself.

Last bit: "Oh anything is hard to find, when you will not open your eyes." I interpret as give things a chance to come to you... do not fear what you want.

This is a strong but sorrowful message, as the Smiths know how to do best.

Orianthi – God Only Knows Lyrics 14 years ago
One of her bests by far. Along with Untogether and ATY.
It is basically about losing someone and regretting not being able to say goodbye.
Who even knows when we should say goodbye? When were going to lose someone?
Only God does.

Lupe Fiasco – Hip Hop Saved My Life Lyrics 14 years ago
I remember how I came across this song.
I was sleeping and than I had a dream I was rapping these lyrics but I didn't even know the song.
So than I wake up and tell my brother, he tells me that he was blasting the song all morning.
Weird huh?
So than I started listening to it and really got into it.
Cause he has a sick flow, and his lyrics have great means to them.
"He says, I write what I see. Write to make it right, don't like where I be"
That's my fav line cuz I'm a writer and I don't like where I'm at so I write for enjoyment, self expression and to one day get out of this place.
