The 88 – Sons and Daughters Lyrics | 14 years ago |
To me, it sounds like he's remembering the fun times he and this girl used to have together, but then she had kids of her own. Now she has a responsibility and can no longer have fun like she used to. So, the guy tells her, metaphorically I hope, to "Throw your babies in the water. Let your hair down like you used to," which means, "Relax. Forget your kids and have fun with me." And, the part: "And tell all your sons and daughters They don't have to grow up like you They're not supposed to." Could translate to: "You don't have to necessarily be a 'positive' influence for your kids, because it won't matter. They're going to make their own choices." Haha. It's kind of morbid actually... Reminds me of my mother. |
