Okay, I might be wrong but this song has strong symbolism and literal references to Heroine. Things that illustrate that theme seem to be "My worst habits wakin' up at least once a day, Balance barefoot on a needle heaven's just a jump away." A lot of the song deals with the intense emotions surrounding heroine addiction. There's the anxiety, depression, hopelessness, suicidal tendencies all displayed in the rhymes. The chorus seems to explore the idea that emotions such as sympathy are a drug of sorts. Possibly playing around the idea that the 'high' from feeling a connection with another person is mind altering in nature. I like how a lot of the songs explore similar themes, even in the smile music video you see blatant references to heroine (the cuts to what appears to be water/blood/oil and the woman with black veins).
