Laura Marling – My Manic and I Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I always assumed the whole 'lake in Geneva' was a Byron reference? And seeing as people appear to be hung up on the nose thing, Byron had a rather large nose, FACT. (Well, that's not a fact, I've only seen portraits of him- they could be wrong?) Anyway, it was whilst the Shelley's were in Geneva that he allegedly had his way with Mary Shelley, and I know this may just be me trying to fit the song to the story, I think there is quite possibly an element of this to it? Also, the idea of 'morning was mocking us' could also imply a Byronesque influence if we consider his poem 'We'll Go No More A-Roving'. I am probably looking too much into this, I'll stop now. |
Laura Marling – Tap At My Window Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I thought the same with the Wuthering Heights reference. The whole 'tap at the window' idea as well as the idea of the 'emotion you can not deny' always reminds me of the Cathy/Heathcliff relationship. |
Jay Jay Pistolet – Holly Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I adore this song, and Jay Jay. Where it said 'odd', as highlighted by anonymiad I'd always assumed it to be 'told' or 'taught', although this could just be me fitting the lyrics to my assumed meaning. Anyway, the first time I heard it, I shed a tear. It's gorgeous. |
