this song is beautiful. because everyone that has experienced "old, sore, lost love", can relate to this. because what the man said is so true, love that never ended properly as in still had strings attached, it haunts you. you keep wanting it back, but you still know it's lost. so the part in the song where he says "I tell my love to wreck it all. Cut out all the ropes and let me fall" i feel him about 100% because the girl i fell in love with, i want her to either come back, or just throw everything away so i can at least be at peace. but obviously she won't, and here i am asking my skinny love what happened here. |

this song is clearly about love. how love isn't what it's what's built up to be, it's almost unbelievable sometimes. it's complete nonsense, thus why he keeps saying "i think you're crazy" but he's unsure because he knows he feels it too - "maybe". it's not what he expected love to be, "It's not like the movies,They fed us on little white lies" but in the end he realizes and accepts. which is what the sound is at the end after the huge pause.
the first verse is, you could say, one way to deal with a break up. trying to move on, but deep down knowing that you want to be back in those arms. because he feels out of place otherwise. he's just confused but at the same time he knows. it's an amazing song. |

He's not talking about himself "blacking out the friction" or avoiding problems, he's talking about someone else. He's saying he's fine with whatever it is now, "i don't mind the weather", he's not bothered by whatever is happening. But the girl or whoever is trying out different things and avoiding the problems or whatever. And he's like "i think this is kinda stupid but whatever" when he says "I think that it's brainless to assume. That making changes to your window's view will give a new perspective".
And he's basically saying that if this is what the other person wants to do, just know that wherever they are now isn't the hardest part. it's when they have to seperate and "cross the country alone".
The whole time in the song he didn't say I'm BLACKING OUT THE FRICTION, he said you're. So he's just dealing with whatever the other person wants to do, though he thinks it's kind of stupid.
Perfect Example: My girlfriend deciding to go on a "not talking" break, even though i'm traveling in asia right now, and it would be nice to talk to her. I think it's kinda stupid but "I don't mind restrictions" hahaaaaaa get it? |

i relate this to something i'm experiencing as we speak. my girlfriend is in illinois, and i'm in asia and i'm trying to get back to her, but the u.s embassy isn't letting me get my student visa so i can finish my studies in the u.s. this is in her perspective. and sadly this doesn't make me feel better, just realize the situation more. and it makes me sad because i want to get back to her, and she's wanting me to come back home (her heart) so we can start over again. it could mean something different, but this is how i relate it to me. |
