Editors – No Sound But the Wind Lyrics 14 years ago
First of all, I doubt Tom Smith (hes the lead singer and songwriter by the way) has even read Breaking Dawn, let alone wrote the lyrics for it. I'm a twilight fan (of the books mainly) but even I'm getting sick of people referring to it all the time.

Secondly. The birthday part is significant to the book The Road, which the original version of this song is about. Big stuffy movie directors (the same directors who miss out brilliant parts of the twilight books) probably asked Editors to make it more "vampiery" so they threw in stuff about blood, and cold, and moon. Anyway in The Road, a father is fighting to look after his son. Hence "Think of a Birthday" birthdays were so much better when you were a kid, hes basically telling the kid to think happy thoughts.

Thirdly, theres a reason the song dosnt refer to new moon, because its not about new moon. Read the book The Road, and you'll develop a new understanding for this truly remarkable song, and hopefully get over this twilight thing, because although the twilight books are good, there are MUCH better ones out there. Trust me.

You are saying people arent seeing the significance of these words. Well nor are you.

I disagree about the Damon thing. Although Damon is somewhat of a womaniser, and a bit of a bad person. There's always a hint of him having a softer side. He's hurting women because a woman hurt him, and you get to see that in vampire diaries. He's a victim of love not the villain. In Catapult I can see some resemblance to Damon, but I don't think the song is totally like him. Damon can control women with a power he has. Although (he could control me with just his charm lol)

I think the fact that hes said "in softly came the growl..." makes the growl seem sexual rather than hateful, but not necessarily sexual intercourse. Like women from both sides are expressing their lust for him, or even one sides the women expressin their lust and the other side (both sides) is the men feeling inferior? perhaps?
