Why don't you like the rest of the album? And i'm sorry but how can you say the lyrics are weak?!?! Most of the lyrics on this album are so powerful, especially songs like this, Machines, Folding Stars, 9/15ths and As the Dust Dances. |

| I'm pretty sure it is about his mum. It's such an angry and pissed off song, it's him venting his anger about why God has taken his mother away from him. It could be about being aware of your own mortality, but i'm not sure about not wanting to wasting your life and not knowing where to go. It's him losing faith in God after he has taken his mother away from him, and getting angry at the whole situation. | |

It's about taking control of your life and asking for help in making your life better, as well as feeling inadequate in life and asking for help. "Help me be Captain of.." "Somebody help me sing..." "Can anybody hear me?" Also, its "Let's love death away" i heard it in the acoustic version :) |

Right. Dave Grohl is an excellent musician, i think your the one being slightly ignorant. At this moment he is one of the world's best drummers, along with his pretty good guitar playing skills, singing voice, and the fact he taught himself to play pretty technical piano whilst on touring, along with his songwriting skills. The fact he has made such a good and successful band coming from the shadow of NIRVANA for gods sakes show he is an excellent musician, along with the other 3. Ok, he may not be a lyrical genius, but the music the band makes along with the passion they put into their music, and the passion he puts into his lyrics, are what it's all about, he doesn't have to be a master of the english language to convey what he is feeling. There are other much better musicians, past and present Ok, it may not be the worlds best written song, but the fact that just from listening to it (especially the acoustic version) you can tell what he is saying and how he is feeling shows how good a song this is. The fact that you can connect with it makes it a great song. The whole top ten songs is a matter of opinion, personally, it's up there, but that's because i feel i have a connection with the song. Everyone is entitled to their opinion of course, but make sure it's an informed one. P.S. Don't even get me started on Kurt Cobain... |
