Lupe Fiasco – Hello/Goodbye (Uncool) Lyrics 14 years ago
Bear with me. I think there's a slight World of Warcraft influence on this song, mainly the second verse. You're not going to understand much of this post if you're not familiar with WoW, but here goes:

"They said everything's gonna be fi-fi-fine
Said everything's gonna be o-o-okay
Just don't breathe the air."
The third line suggests that there is something wrong with the air. There is a plague in WoW, which kills off people & brings people back alive as undead minions.

"He just sits, and waits for them to kick in the door
He once was a hero, they don't love him no more"
I believe the person Lupe refers to is Arthas, who saw his city, Lordaeron, destroyed by the Scourge (hoards of undead).
Arthas started out as a good character, but as the story progressed, he became more corrupted & evil (he once was a hero). His romantic interest (Jaina) & his mentor (Uther Lightbringer) eventually saw how twisted he was becoming over time, & abandoned him (they don't love him no more).

"And if they can get their hands on the mask
that he had wore on his face,
they can put someone else in his place,
To restore
the state, the illusion that it's safe,
The faith, that being a slave is so great"

Arthas is eventually summoned by the leader of the Scourge, Ner'zhul (the Lich King). Ner'zhul is weak, & is losing control of part of the Scourge. He wishes to fuse with Arthas, so he can restore his power. Ner'zhul's 'essence' is inside pieces of armour. To fuse, Arthas must put on the helmet & they will become one, which will result in him being the new Lich King (and they can get their hands on the mask that he wore on his face, they can put someone else in his place to restore the state, the illusion that it's safe, the faith that being a slave [undead minion] is so great).

"As gas fills the room,
and rockets destroy everything around him,
He stands to find himself surrounded,
by thousands of soldiers he once trained
to never miss their targets, heartless"

These last few lines, I believe, are Lupe's speculation as to how the Lich King (a now fused Ner'zhul & Arthas) will come to an end.
Nobody knows how the Lich King will die yet, so Lupe have squeezed his idea into the song.
I interpret it as a huge battle surrounding the Lich King comes to and end (as gas [plague] fills the room [battlefield], & rockets destroy everything around him [war], he stands to find himself surrounded by thousands of soldiers that he once trained to never miss their targets [Scourge who broke free from his grasp, known as the Forsaken], heartless [the Forsaken are known to be very cruel].

This is just my take. If you don't understand it, no big deal. I just thought Lupe knew a little bit about World of Warcraft, seeing as he has also made reference to it in other songs. [Hip Hop Saved my Life - he makes reference to Leeroy Jenkins (lyric; Leeroy Go!), who is a famous WoW player. (Youtube it :D )]
