On the specific lyric 'I'm not stupid I swear I read the foreign news to understand my nation you get two options in The You Estates black city bloodbath or white country rape' I think it's a joke. He's saying how 'not stupid' he is, and then misunderstands US states as you estates, and then says something only an idiot would believe. There are two ways to interpret the joke though, it could be made by the speaker, and he understands the idiocy and is making fun of it to this woman, OR it could be by Matt making the speaker look like an idiot, implying it was one of the reasons the woman left. I'm not yet sure which. |

Seeing as no-one's put a meaning to it, and seeing as it's my favourite song and has been for the large part of three years, I shall give it its meaning. Its a mashup so it's talking about two different stories, but they fit so well its amazing. Underoath's song 'Dangerous Business since walking out your front door' is the in depth thoughts of a man who is driving with his partner, and wishes to send her to heaven to be with God, and therefore crashes into a wall, killing both of them, but slowly. (Hence 'White knuckle' Driving) 'Now you can walk hand in hand with Him'... Its such a thoughtful song and I love it. January 1979 By mewithoutYou is about Life in general, our place in the world, and how we treat other people. Its about the purpose of life. 'If i could become the servant of all' He sees this as the ultimate sacrifice for the greater good, he would be serving other people to try and earn his own place in heaven. Though i think he sometimes doubts God, for example he says 'you watch me like a ten car highway wreck' as if God has no real interest in his wellbeing, but is curious none the less. Together these fit perfectly. its so wonderful, the idea of serving and giving your life to help others, and the idea of sacrificing yourself to send someone else to heaven. :) |

Ok, I think he crashes the car to give her life in heaven, as he thinks he isnt good enough for her 'let love aside' (he thinks this is whats best for her) In doing this he survives, but he probably has ptsd and has nightmares about the crash, remembering it vividly. 'drowning in my sleep' (dreams so vivid he would drown in them) |

The screaming at the start is so Realistic.. it isnt average screaming in fear.. it is just desperately trying to express his pain (emotional or physical) but it is the best start to a song i have heard for a long time!!! Well.. personally I like to visualise the situation.. the screams at the start have an almost metalic sound.. which makes me think of a metal room or cell in which he is being kept, maybe tortured in. Then slowly the other instruments cover the pain he is in. (which i imagine as being similar to slowly moving away from the cell along a corridor with the people playing instruments in).. later on there are whoops of joy.. as if the humanity of the person is now gone, and they are no longer sane.. and then the sinister feeling is expressed even more.. as if looking upon a person you once knew who lost their mind. |
