The Wildhearts – Sky Chaser High Lyrics
|
About getting high, I'm guessing by smoking weed given the reference to it being legal one day. Nice references to former Prime Ministers who didn't support the legalisation of cannabis. |

The Wildhearts – Liberty Cap Lyrics
|
A Liberty Cap is a type of mushroom - this song I think is generally about magic mushrooms and/or other hallucinogenic drugs. |

The Wildhearts – Inglorious Lyrics
|
I get the feeling that this song is about how people react to you when you become famous - they are completely different, but its only a passing phase. |

The Wildhearts – Weekend (5 Long Days) Lyrics
| 14 years ago
|
I agree, the Wildhearts are one of the best bands in existence IMHO, and criminally underrated. I can't think of too many songwriters as good as Ginger.
This one is self-explanatory - people go through the week at work, on autopilot, then live for the weekend where they can go out and have fun. |

The Wildhearts – V-Day Lyrics
|
Not exactly sure, but possibly something to do with the tradition of Valentine's Day?
'Gift given time', 'stuck making a meal out of a smile and a hairstyle' make me think this (along with the title of course!) |

The Wildhearts – Underkill Lyrics
|
I think this is another one about record companies and how much they suck. They don't represent the band as they should - a problem that the Wildhearts seem to have a lot!
Underkill could refer to a lack of exposure of the band to the public by the record company i.e. the opposite of overkill. |

The Wildhearts – Turning American Lyrics
|
Not a jingoistic criticism of Americans as a lot of people think. About how bands change and get commercial when the money is flashed in front of them.
Ginger is such a legend - who else could refer to a 'steaming phallus' in a song?! |
submissions
The Wildhearts – Splattermania Lyrics
|
Ginger's ode to gory splatter films. Nice reference to the effect watching horror films has on the indivudal (i.e. f*ck all). |
submissions
The Wildhearts – Sick Of Drugs Lyrics
|
8.2 refers to the Richter Scale (measurement of strength of earthquakes), hence an enormous headache.
Like harmonicaplayer says, purely about drugs and the effects. |
submissions
The Wildhearts – Mindslide Lyrics
|
Yeah, its about drug use and its effect on the individual. Similar in content to 'Moodswings and Roundabouts'. |

The Wildhearts – Junkenstein Lyrics
|
Supposedly about Danny and his drug problems. Everyone in the band could see he was getting out of control apart from him, hence 'You're pissing on friends and still you deny it', and 'Your eyes are never wide enough'. |

The Wildhearts – Jonesing For Jones Lyrics
| 14 years ago
|
Link between drug withdrawal and losing a love. 'Jonesing' is a US term for 'looking for' I think, and 'Jones' refers to both drugs or addiction, and was also the surname of Ginger's girlfriend, whom this song refers to! |

The Wildhearts – Heroin Lyrics
|
This is a cover of a Dogs D'Amour song (I think) taken from Endless, Nameless. I think this song might about heroin...?
I like the line 'be the 'hero in' the end of the film'. |

The Wildhearts – Girlfriend Clothes Lyrics
| 14 years ago
|
About how guys dress up and try to make themselves look all attractive and shit, to go out and meet women. When actually, women just want to meet a nice guy who they can talk to and get on with. I love the line about 'Old Mrs Palm and her 5 young daughters'... |

The Wildhearts – Friend For Five Minutes Lyrics
| 14 years ago
|
Pretty good interpretation of the lyrics I think - they are bloody hard to decipher.
Not exactly sure what the song is about, but Mark Keds joined the band and recorded the B-sides to the 'Just in Lust' single (including this song). He then left the band quite inconveniently shortly after - he was there for about 5 minutes! |

The Wildhearts – Dreaming in a… Lyrics
|
I might be wrong, but I think its 'maybe tomorrow when we're coming down from it all'.
About the link between drugs and creativity. |

The Wildhearts – Vanilla Radio Lyrics
|
I think this is just about how everything on the radio sounds the same these days. Vanilla can mean standard, or ordinary.
'All that the kids will allow' - this is the kind of stuff that kids want to listen to, so more and more bands pump out the same stuff.
'Where's my Elvis' - could mean 'where is the next interesting thing?' |

The Wildhearts – Sky Babies Lyrics
|
Possibly one of the greatest songs of all time. If anybody is reading this but hasn't heard this song, I implore you to do so. 11 minutes of sheer brilliance by the genuis that is Ginger.
The song itself is about UFO's and suchlike, and the possibilty of aliens impregnating our earth ladies, and creating...well, sky babies! |

The Wildhearts – Red Light Green Light Lyrics
| 14 years ago
|
Info Lad - that's pretty much it. I think its just Ginger saying 'get on with it', and give stuff a go. The video must have cost a hell of a lot to make... |

The Wildhearts – Everlone Lyrics
|
I think this song is about a person who choses to be alone and depressed because it seems like the cool thing to do, but actually its pretty pathetic.
I love the metal outro on this song - Ginger is great at throwing random parts together that shouldn't fit, but do! |
submissions
The Wildhearts – Tv Tan Lyrics
|
I seem to remember Ginger commenting that it should be 'So-So KO', as in overdose of the ordinary. Cracking song, love it. |
submissions
The Wildhearts – Greetings From Shitsville Lyrics
| 14 years ago
|
Yep, just about Ginger's reflections on London. Apparently the idea for the song came to him when he saw a cockroach in his flat, and he reckoned it did a little dance...Ginger is a legend! |
submissions
The Wildhearts – Beautiful Thing You Lyrics
| 14 years ago
|
I think Ginger said this one was about being with somebody that is amazing, and that in turn making you feel like you are amazing, because you are with this person. Nice. |

The Wildhearts – And The Bullshit Goes On Lyrics
| 14 years ago
|
All about record companies and how they don't support the band. They have a certain idea of how they want the band to be/look etc., and this often undermines what the band wants. Wildhearts have certainly had a few issues with record companies... |
