I think that the reference to 'Jelly Roll' here is referring to the blues music, but generally 'jelly roll' is a reference to sex. Jelly Roll Morton took his name because his first job as a piano player was in a brothel, providing a 'soundtrack' for various activities I guess! He was 14 at the time and it got him kicked out of his grandmother's house. |
