Beautiful lyrics. Sounds like a mourning for someone once great. The repeated "I am the tension, you are the tightrope" section gives the ending hope for the future. I'm not sure what the extended Egyptian gods metaphor means here, possibly reinforcing a faded glory feeling. |

This seems like a bit of a sad song--a girl infatuated with a self-absorbed guy. The guy shows up late, doesn't offer her the helmet, generally shows he doesn't care about her. The one thing I don't really understand is the "she" in the chorus--maybe another girl he's taking advantage of? Anyway, though it's a bit depressing, I love the tune and the lyrics. One of the best off I'm Going Away. |
