@errnxo.......Awesome that they hang with him...I would too. He seems like a very intriguing person. Didn't mean it as a bash. I read Twilight. I was just stating an opinion. I completely believe it's about vampires, pretty sure Caleb said so. I just don't think that they are the kind of people to write about a teen book series. But I don't know them so what do I really know? I just think they are deeper than that....opinion |

Sooooooooooo.....I just want to say that you really shouldn't tell people they are wrong abbout their opinion on songs...Music exists for people to make what they want to out of it. That's why people love it so much, they can relate it to themselves. SO, if people find it to be religious, let them think of it that way.
I certainly see how it could be taken religiously.
Also, my husband is in Afghanistan right now and so I tend to think of it from that view point. We aren't together now, but he WILL be back and it's because we are meant to be together. This song is so powerful and absolutely beautiful |

This is actually how I listen to this song...my husband is in Afghanistan right now and I heard this and thought "That's it!"

I really like your interpretation though. I think at this point, with bands like this, you can find multiple meanings for a song and no one but the writer will really ever know unles they decide to spill. |

If you look up the meaning for degauss, it starts making a whole lot of sense. It's about being demagnitized.....so if you were demagnitized to something, you are no longer pulled to it. He is no longer pulled to sleep, love, or religion. The one about religion, he says liar, and you drink from the cup but don't up to anything, I think refers to hypocritical Christians. That's just me though.
Anyway, he's basically not entranced by any of these things that once pulled on him. I think it is really cool.
With the whole soul mate thing, I think that is really interesting and i can see the connection to the song. Maybe he found his soul mate and messed up so now nothing matters??? |

ok people..... it is "black cat with the gift down below" as written in the CD booklet. So, the girl is a black cat down below, meaning she is a firecracker in bed....That makes a ton of sense to me. |

Wow, you people are passionate. I read Twilight becuase its a good story, not the best writing. I happen to adore Kings of Leon and in no way can see them even considering wiritng a song for those books.....And the albumn and book did not come out at the same time. Just to let you know. I can see where this may be simply vampire related as many people have said. It completely makes sense, but lets be realistic people. Like they give a flying flip about Twilight. |
