Mark Chadwick, lead singer of the levellers, wrote this when he read a novel, it was about a french woman who was blind, it was based back in the 1800's, the blind woman could paint beautiful pictures and of course she was seen as a witch being able to paint with out having the use of her eyes, the village people got scared, they went on a witch hunt,came in her house and burnt her house down with her in it... dark story. but beautiful. |

This song is by far, one of the most over looked anti-war songs going. Meaning; Johnee Jingo is one of the troop war songs, that they used to sing, Todd Rundgren is saying, Don't you dare sing for me soldier, don't sing for me i don't want anything to do with you war, don't even fight for me i don't want any part of this death fueled plot. |
