In my opinion this song is about Scenario... A boy trying to lead his girl friend to make the right choices in life i make a step forward in making a good decision and in return you help me by making the same good choice whether its "God" or just simple everyday life choices "I give for you, you give for me") But also stating that hes not perfect and has made wrong choices before but looks past that and is still TRYING to do good and make good decisions hes been there before but doesn't make the same bad mistakes and learns from them "if you want, you can look inside- hes letting her look on the inside by being honest not saying he is perfect.. There is nothing but red and all the mess I've been"- Briefly hes a mess inside but still has a conscious state of mind and knowing that he has to change.. "It's all in the way I say what I don't mean, and mean what I don't" he doesn't know how to make this person understand what he really means and how he really feel's and doesn't know how to reflect it in his words.. he doesnt know how to explain it..
