FM Static – Take Me As I Am Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Astebbing, AndSoIWait- pretty much nailed it. Obviously the song is open to interpretation, but the intended meaning is learning to trust God and give one's self to Him. Only disagreement is the meaning of 'hands'. When he says "these hands aren't holding me down", he doesn't mean his sin isn't holding him down. It's a response to the fact that many people feel religion constrains and limits a person- in reality, those hands are holding him up and protecting him. |

I am extremely happy to find this in my iTunes collection. I have no idea when or where I downloaded it, but it's very good. |
Thrice – Flags of Dawn Lyrics | 15 years ago |
so lets find the place where sight begins and see the things that we saw when our eyes were bright and wet against the light In a live setting, this is unbelievable. Everything goes quiet, and Dustin sings the last line twice. Sends chills down my back just thinking about it. That and the 'sleep with one eye open, live with both eyes shut' line are awesome. I don't have a satisfactory interpretation for the whole song, but it's great nonetheless. |

Nice interpretation dude. Covers pretty much all of it... And while fadetoflashes has every right to express his opinion, I can't help but laugh a bit at him. I can only hope that in the 3 and a half years since he posted that his musical taste has improved ;) |

Haha. I'd say if anything, the fact that it's instinctual suggests some validity. Quoting Freud isn't helping your case. |
The Classic Crime – Salt in the Snow Lyrics | 15 years ago |
No, it's not a Christian band. But this song is about God, and it's very good. And the band saying they don't like the Christian music industry is them saying they don't like the way the focus is taken away from God and placed on selling records. That's not what praising Him is about. So denying this song being about God is pointless, as is arguing about whether or not TCC is a 'Christian' band. Their music has Christian influences and it's pretty sweet. |
