I love this song too much. If the new album follows suit, I'll be the happiest guy alive. The Rev's death is only just sinking in for me. The song is about someone who has died and gone to hell, where he's being tortured and is in his nightmare and can't escape. He can't turn back, so he has to fight, but loses, and is dragged back down. The last verse seems to have a very definitive ending, but then the music at the end seems like it will lead right onto another song, so we don't know for sure if it IS the end. I don't think it's about Jimmy dying, because he was the one who wrote it. Also, I don't think they would want to think of Jimmy as the guy in this Ballad. |

My take on this song is that the woman has committed adultery, hence the title "Unholy Confessions", as adultery is unholy, as it is mentioned in the 10 commandments. "I'll try (not to lose you)", the woman is sorry for what she has done, and even though she has made the mistake, she wants him back. "Two vibrant hearts could change" - This is saying that both his and her hearts have been broken. His, because he has been hurt by the woman's actions - his heart does not want to be broken again, so it is trying to make the man not love the woman any more, and the woman's heart has been hurt because the man she really loves does not love her any more. "Nothing tears the being more than deception", he is calling himself "the being" because he is so depressed that he doesn't feel human any more, and he feels like he has been torn in half because it hurts so much. And he has been deceived...so yeah, that bit is self explanatory. I'l leave the rest, as I don't have much time, but you can kind of guess the rest by looking at it and relating it to adultery. It's basically a song about how he has been hurt and how he feels dead and depressed. Well, that's how I see it anyway... :'D |

I think its about knowing the difference between love and lust. He's saying he wants to have sex with this girl right now, which is passionate and quite naturalistic. But then he says "i want to fall in love, but i don't know how to", which suggests he is looking for more than just animalistic sex, but cannot find it, so he settles for having her in the bathroom ;D if that makes sense at all... |
