Poets Of The Fall – Gravity Lyrics 15 years ago
No comments on this song? ...shame ):

I really like Gravity, another beauty by Poets of the Fall. The meaning is sort of obvious, well, as obvious as it’s going to get in terms of the meanings of Poets’ songs (: The comparison between gravity and love is clever, and that’s what I like about the band. They take a topic like ‘love’ (I am generalising) which is smeared all over the charts, and turn it into something intellectual and amazing.

Anyway, I think the song is basically talking about someone’s love life and the decision that they finally make to take the leap and move on. “But yesterday ain’t running on this track”; they missed their chance yesterday. The person has to make themself move on from what has happened (the ‘fall’ which could be a breakup, maybe a death etc.) by getting up and not being afraid.

Catchy tune, great lyrics, awesome voice, all in all, a fantastic song (:

Hmm, you have an interesting and valid opinion but somehow I can't really relate this song to New Moon. Maybe I am reluctant to see a connection because of what happened to Muse (they were, and are, one of my favourite bands) after the Twilight movie came out. All the Twilight fans (the majority being young girls) suddenly made Muse their ‘favourite’ band just because the song Supermassive Black Hole was in the movie; great for the band in terms of publicity I guess -shrugs-. It’s just frustrating and sad that the depth and beauty of the song is lost when this happens, and I think that was why so many hardcore Muse fans were upset. Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that the Twilight saga is quite superficial and mediocre in terms of depth (I am not complaining, I do enjoy reading the books) and I like to think that Muse, and also Poets of the Fall, are greater than that; with their songs, the meanings and the music in general.

Sorry, I went slightly off track about Muse, but it helped me make my point (:

I think this song is definitely talking about mentality. Someone’s state of mind or an internal unsettling, possibly an addiction of some sort. The meaning works with a drug addiction; “you cannot help showing them in”, “they will take control of you”, “try as you might, you try to give it up”. I have found it hard to interpret this song, and I think I am still fumbling around in the dark in terms of meanings xD (the other comments have given me more of an insight though (: ) Personally, I don’t think this is one of Poets’ best songs. The piano is amazing, and Marko’s voice is soothing and mellow, but I think it is slightly lacking something.

Conjure One – Center of the Sun Lyrics 15 years ago
This song actually reminded me of the novel 'Love in the Time of Cholera' by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

I hear violins — Florentino Ariza used to play serenades on his violin outside Fermina Daza’s window
The market — that’s where they meet properly for the first time before she realised it was all a delusion
They say the most horrible things — Fermina's father telling her that she cannot marry him. Actually, her father is mean and violent towards her, especially when he finds her and his love letters to each other
She sings, you say the most beautiful things — all Florentino's love letters to her possibly
And I cannot be hurt by anything this wicked world has done — Applies to Florentino more than Fermina. He is wrapped up in his own little bubble, unaware of the world around him.
Young boy in the market, sees the girl alone — Florentino only has eyes for Fermina when he sees her in the marketplace.
Also, young girl' and 'young boy' suggest adolescent or immature love — as Florentino and Fermina's was
I think this song relates to their immature love, before Dr Urbino comes into the picture. Some things don't match up with the book, but a lot of things do.

Nevertheless, it is about a love story, maybe not the one in 'Love in the Time of Cholera'. I dunno, I heard all these connections, anyone else that has read the book agree?

Porcupine Tree – Normal Lyrics 15 years ago
Fantastic song. Love the line 'I do a good impression of myself'

The interweaving lyrics at the end intrigued me (the whole song did actually), when he says "you've gotta see the waves, not the wine bottle and the waves now" at the end over the 'sentimental' part. I guess it means moving on.. wine bottle, a drinking problem possibly? I always think as waves/beach being very inspirational and calming.

Anyway, I agree with previous posts about the song being about him questioning what is normal, to put it basically. A good question, and one that is still yet to be answered!
